This is a key leadership role for someone who has successfully built structure, improved processes, and driven operational performance in a production & assembly environment — while still being willing to roll up their sleeves and work alongside the team. This is not a large-company, sit-behind-the-desk role. We are looking for someone who thrives in a smaller, fast-moving business where priorities can shift quickly, resources are lean, and the right leader is comfortable operating at both the strategic and tactical level. Position Overview The Director of Operations will oversee day-to-day operations across production, supply chain, inventory, warehouse, shipping, quality, and process improvement. This person will be responsible for building scalable systems, improving efficiency, strengthening accountability, and ensuring the company can meet customer demand as it grows. The ideal candidate has a strong background in production & assembly operations , not fabrication, and has experience working in a startup, high-growth, or small-to-midsized company environment . They should be comfortable creating structure where it may not yet exist and leading a small team with a practical, hands-on leadership style. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily production & assembly operations, including production planning, inventory management, warehouse operations, shipping, quality, and workflow efficiency.
- Build, improve, and implement operational processes, systems, KPIs, and reporting to support company growth.
- Partner with leadership to develop and execute operational strategy aligned with business goals.
- Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and process gaps, then implement practical solutions.
- Lead and develop a small operations team, setting clear expectations and creating accountability.
- Support production scheduling, materials planning, vendor coordination, and on-time customer delivery.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across production & assembly, supply chain, and fulfillment.
- Ensure quality standards are met and operational issues are addressed quickly and effectively.
- Work cross-functionally with engineering, sales, purchasing, warehouse, and leadership teams.
- Be willing to step in directly when needed — whether that means helping solve a production issue, supporting shipping/warehouse needs, or working side-by-side with the team to keep operations moving. Ideal Background
- Strong experience in production & assembly operations within a product-based company.
- Experience in a startup, high-growth, or small-company environment where the candidate has had to build processes, create structure, and adapt quickly.
- Proven ability to scale operations while staying hands-on in day-to-day execution.
- Experience overseeing production, inventory, warehouse, supply chain, quality, and/or fulfillment functions.
- Strong process improvement mindset with the ability to implement practical, scalable systems.
- Comfortable leading small teams and wearing multiple hats.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions quickly in a fast-moving environment.
- Experience working closely with ownership, executive leadership, or founders is a plus. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred, but equivalent hands-on operational leadership experience will be considered.
- 7+ years of progressive operations leadership experience in a production & assembly environment.
- Prior experience in a Director, Senior Manager, Head of Operations, Plant Manager, Operations Manager, or similar operations leadership role.
- Demonstrated success improving operational efficiency, production flow, inventory accuracy, and on-time delivery.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Comfortable working onsite and being highly visible with the team. Important Fit Factors
- The right person for this role will be: o Hands-on, practical, and comfortable jumping in where needed.
o Experienced in production & assembly, not primarily fabrication. o Comfortable in a small-team environment without layers of support. o Able to bring structure without overcomplicating things. o Entrepreneurial, adaptable, and calm under pressure. o Willing to own both planning and day-to-day execution — because in a growing company, strong operations leadership means staying close to the work. Compensation
- Compensation will be competitive and based on experience.
Details to be discussed during the interview process.
