Job Description
Essential Functions The EMS Operations Technician provides hands‑on operational, logistical, and infrastructure support to Bastrop County EMS. This position directly supports field operations by ensuring ambulance readiness, medical equipment availability, facility functionality, and operational continuity. The role bridges daily EMS operations with infrastructure, logistics and training readiness to maintain system reliability and response capability. The EMS Operations Technician directly supports unit uptime, crew readiness, and system reliability. By integrating fleet readiness, logistics, facilities support, scheduling assistance, and training preparation under infrastructure leadership, this role strengthens Bastrop County EMS's operational backbone and scalability as the system grows. Material Management Conduct inventory management, restocking, and resupply of ambulances and medical kits in accordance with agency standards. Perform decontamination as needed for ambulances and equipment. Track medical supplies, equipment usage, and restocking needs; coordinate replenishment to support uninterrupted operations. Maintain accurate awareness of asset condition and availability. Perform quality control inspections on patient care equipment and durable medical equipment to ensure operational compliance and functionality. Identify, troubleshoot, and report operational or equipment issues impacting unit readiness or response capability. Handle, package, transport, and dispose of biohazard materials in accordance with applicable regulations and agency policy. Track medical supplies, equipment usage, and restocking needs; coordinate replenishment to support uninterrupted operations. Support increased operational demands during surge and emergency management events Maintain accurate awareness of asset condition and availability. Facility and Infrastructure Support EMS station and operational facility readiness by assisting with safety checks, cleanliness, and operational functionality. Assist with basic corrective or coordination activities that impact operational continuity, escalating issues to infrastructure leadership as appropriate. Support operational readiness beyond ambulances, including operational spaces, equipment rooms, and logistics areas. Fleet Perform light fleet maintenance activities as needed. Move fleet vehicles from place to place as needed to support maintenance and operational readiness. Operate district vehicles safely, legally, and professionally on public roadways. Other Duties Support EMTF operations as needed. Support administrative projects as assigned by leadership. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times. Required Qualifications Strong operational awareness of EMS systems and field operations. Ability to coordinate effectively with EMS leadership, field crews, infrastructure staff, and training personnel. Working knowledge of ambulance‑based systems, equipment readiness, and logistics workflows. Ability to prioritize competing operational needs and respond flexibly to changing conditions. Strong attention to detail, reliability, and accountability.
