The Traveling Field Manager is responsible for overseeing critical field operations and large-scale projects throughout assigned regional markets. This role requires extensive hands-on field experience and strong leadership capabilities to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with company and client expectations. The Traveling Field Manager will work directly alongside internal crews and subcontractors in the field to provide training, oversight, troubleshooting, and operational support. In addition to onsite project management, this role is responsible for conducting quality control inspections, customer site walkthroughs, project surveys, vendor oversight, and acting as a liaison between field personnel, operations management, and clients. This position requires frequent regional travel, flexibility in scheduling, and the ability to adapt to varying project scopes, customer environments, and operational demands.
Job Responsibilities:
Field Operations & Project Oversight Oversee and manage larger field projects, emergency response work, and critical customer initiatives throughout assigned regions. Provide onsite leadership and direction to field crews, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to company standards. Work hands-on with crews when necessary to train, support, and demonstrate proper installation, repair, and maintenance techniques. Ensure all work is performed in accordance with customer scope, safety requirements, local codes, and company procedures. Coordinate with internal operations teams regarding project timelines, material needs, scheduling conflicts, and customer expectations. Assist with project planning, manpower allocation, and logistical coordination for larger or multi-site projects. Responsible for onsite assessments including notes, critical dimensions, notes and pictures of project requests from customers within regional boundaries Training & Development Train and mentor field technicians and subcontractors on company standards, workmanship expectations, safety procedures, and customer service practices. Identify skill gaps within crews and provide ongoing coaching and development recommendations. Support onboarding and field training for newly hired technicians and vendors. Reinforce proper documentation, communication, and field reporting standards. Quality Control & Compliance Perform routine and post-project quality control inspections to ensure work meets company and client expectations. Conduct safety audits and verify compliance with OSHA, customer, and company safety standards. Identify deficiencies, develop corrective action plans, and ensure timely resolution of punch list items. Document project progress, deficiencies, and completed work through reports, photos, and field notes. Client Relations & Site Walkthroughs Conduct customer site walkthroughs, surveys, and pre-construction/project planning meetings. Act as a professional onsite representative of the company during customer interactions. Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, site contacts, vendors, and subcontractors. Assist with proposal development by gathering field measurements, documenting conditions, and identifying project requirements. Escalate customer concerns or operational issues to leadership when necessary. Operational Support Assist management with evaluating field processes and identifying opportunities for operational improvement. Support emergency response and after-hours field operations as needed. Ensure accurate field communication between crews, dispatch, project management, and leadership teams. Maintain organized project documentation, reports, and field records. Travel regularly throughout assigned regions, including overnight travel when required. Responsible for identifying change orders and communicating with customer for change order approvals Overnight Project Management of Facility Maintenance projects as required

Candidate Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; technical certifications or trade schooling preferred. Minimum of 5+ years of field experience within facilities maintenance, construction, service, or related trades. Prior experience leading crews, subcontractors, or field operations strongly preferred. Experience managing multi-site or regional projects preferred. Strong knowledge of commercial facilities maintenance, repair, and construction practices. Ability to read scopes of work, blueprints, proposals, and project documentation. Familiarity with OSHA regulations, safety practices, and jobsite compliance requirements. Proficient with mobile technology, Microsoft Office, and field management software systems. Strong leadership, mentoring, and team development skills. Excellent communication and customer service abilities. Ability to problem solve and make decisions in fast-paced field environments. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to lift, climb, bend, and work in varying field environments as needed. Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout assigned regions, including overnight travel when required. Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record required. Ability to work flexible schedules, including occasional nights and weekends based on project demands.
