POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Operations & Compliance is a senior leader responsible for ensuring that key operational and regulatory functions of the school run safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with federal, state, and local requirements. This role oversees vendor managed transportation, special education compliance, the child nutrition program, and school safety, ensuring that each area supports high quality learning environments and access for all students.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Transportation Oversight Serve as the primary liaison between the school and contracted transportation providers. Monitor vendor performance, including on time arrivals, route efficiency, student route rosters, customer service, and adherence to safety standards. Oversee contract compliance, service-level agreements, and issue resolution. Coordinate with families, school staff, and the vendor to address concerns, route changes, and special transportation needs. Analyze transportation data to identify trends and recommend improvements. Special Education Compliance Ensure full compliance with Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Section 504, and federal and state special education regulations. Partner with special education leadership to monitor IEP implementation, service delivery, and documentation accuracy. Lead internal audits, corrective action plans, and compliance reporting. Provide training and guidance to campus staff on procedural safeguards and compliance expectations. Oversee the compliance of special education staff. Child Nutrition Program Oversee the planning, implementation, and compliance of the schools child nutrition program, including USDA and state requirements. Ensure accurate reporting of meal counts, vendor invoices, TX-UNPS reporting and reimbursement, menu planning standards, food safety protocols, and fiscal accountability. Collaborate with nutrition staff and vendors to improve meal quality, student participation, and operational efficiency. Monitor compliance with free/reduced meal eligibility processes and audit requirements. School Safety & Emergency Management Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of school safety policies, emergency operations plans, and crisis response procedures. Coordinate safety drills, threat assessments, and staff training. Oversee campus security measures, including visitor management, surveillance systems, and incident reporting. Serve as liaison with local law enforcement, emergency responders, and regulatory agencies. Leadership & Collaboration Collaborate with principals, district leaders, and external partners to ensure operational alignment with instructional priorities. Communicate clearly with families, staff, and community stakeholders regarding operational policies and updates. Use data to drive decision-making, monitor performance, and implement continuous improvement strategies. Oversee parent engagement. Professional Expectations Maintain and improve professional competence. Participate in district staff development as needed. Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and community members. Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as needed. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues. Maintain regular attendance. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university; Master's degree preferred. Valid Special Education Texas Educator Certificate Minimum 2 years experience in applicable area. Experience in a public school district or charter, education service center, institution of higher education, or other educational setting preferred.
Experience working with diverse populations:
personnel, students, parents, and other stakeholders.
OTHER POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into focus; judge distance (close and distant); reach with arms extended and use hands to manipulate the keyboard, smart board and other classroom technology. Ability to lift/carry up to 25 pounds, including but not limited to: books, paper and office materials/supplies. This position requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, kneeling and/or the ability to be mobile. This position may require prolonged or irregular hours. Maintain emotional control under stress. Ability to travel throughout the district and city as needed by means of personal/private or public transportation in compliance with the states department of motor vehicle and/or public transportation laws. Ability to communicate effectively in English both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the district.
