$56.00/hr Agency Truck Provided Location Midland, TX Schedule 10 days on / 4 days off Target Start Date ASAP Scope / Overview The Compressor Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance coordination, and optimization of gas compression systems across a regional production area. This role supports daily field operations by monitoring compressor performance, troubleshooting equipment issues, coordinating repairs, and ensuring contractor compliance with company safety standards. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on compression experience, strong troubleshooting abilities, and the ability to work collaboratively with operations, maintenance, and contractor teams to maximize equipment reliability and uptime. Key Responsibilities Operations & Maintenance Perform daily operation and monitoring of compressor stations and associated equipment. Conduct routine inspections and operational checks of compressors, engines, auxiliary systems, and related facilities. Troubleshoot equipment and process issues both in the field and through remote monitoring systems. Coordinate and schedule compressor maintenance and repair activities. Track, document, and report equipment downtime and extended outages. Support startup, shutdown, and optimization efforts to maximize equipment availability and performance. Field Oversight & Compliance Oversee and coordinate the activities of 10-30 contractors performing maintenance and repair work. Ensure contractor adherence to company safety policies, procedures, and permit requirements. Review and audit Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and work execution practices. Conduct field inspections, purging activities, and Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) activities. Utilize company work management platforms to create, assign, and track vendor work requests. Ensure compliance with applicable environmental, operational, and regulatory requirements. Training & Collaboration Collaborate daily with Foremen, Operators, Mechanics, vendors, and contractors. Communicate equipment status, operational concerns, and maintenance priorities to leadership. Assist with onboarding and mentoring less experienced personnel as needed. Support additional tasks and projects as assigned by the Supervisor. Minimum Qualifications Level I High school diploma or GED required. 0-2 years of experience in compressor operations, production operations, or mechanical maintenance. Basic knowledge of gas compression equipment and field operations. Ability to learn troubleshooting and remote monitoring systems. Level II High school diploma or GED required. 3-5 years of experience in gas compression, midstream, or upstream operations. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot compressor and facility issues independently. Experience coordinating contractors and maintenance activities. Level III High school diploma or GED required. 5+ years of experience operating and maintaining gas compression systems. Strong knowledge of compressor diagnostics, reliability, and field maintenance practices. Proven experience leading contractor activities and coordinating multiple priorities across a regional area. Experience with downtime reporting, work management systems, and remote monitoring platforms. Preferred Qualifications Experience with reciprocating and screw compressors. Familiarity with SCADA, remote monitoring, and digital reporting systems. Working knowledge of LDAR requirements and environmental compliance. Experience using work order and maintenance management systems. Strong understanding of safe work practices, permits, JSAs, and contractor management.
