Full Job Description Bousum Transfer Location:
Mid-Atlantic Region (White Marsh, MD to Norfolk, VA) Reports to: Director of Operations About Bousum Transfer Bousum Transfer is a growing waste hauling company specializing in Municipal Solid Waste, Construction & Demolition, Bio-Solids, and Industrial Waste. Since 2001, we have built a reputation for reliable, safe, and efficient transfer station and landfill hauling services across the Mid-Atlantic. We are currently seeking an experienced Site Manager in the Municipal Solid Waste field to lead operations across our depots in the Mid-Atlantic region. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for a safety-focused operations professional who excels at driving performance, managing teams, and controlling costs in the transportation or solid waste industry. You must be able to work independently yet adhere to a schedule of site visits. Key Responsibilities Manage daily operations of depot(s) and provide direct support to Operations Managers and Supervisors to meet quality, safety, and budget targets. Monitor and improve key operating metrics, including productivity, equipment utilization, and cost control. Champion safety culture by enforcing Company, OSHA, and regulatory standards. Lead thorough root cause investigations for all incidents and injuries, implementing corrective actions, discipline, and retraining as needed.
Oversee personnel functions:
hiring, coaching, training, performance evaluations, discipline, and providing input on compensation, promotions, and terminations. Develop short-term and long-term goals and action plans in alignment with leadership. Participate in regular P&L reviews and implement initiatives to optimize labor, equipment maintenance, and material costs. Requirements Education & Experience Associate degree preferred (or High School Diploma/GED with additional relevant experience). Minimum 3 years of supervisory or management experience in transportation, logistics, or solid waste operations. Proven experience leading, coaching, and developing teams, including routing assessments and performance management. CDL Class A preferred Required Knowledge & Skills Strong background in operations, safety program implementation (OSHA), budgeting, and P&L management. Experience in customer service, community relations, and resolving labor relations issues. Ability to manage multiple sites and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
