Job Description

  • Position Summary:
  • The Director of Operations is responsible for the overall administrative and operational management of the outpatient substance abuse treatment center.
This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, compliant, and client-centered services while optimizing efficiency, staff performance, and program outcomes. The Director collaborates with clinical leadership to support evidence-based practices and maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily operations of outpatient substance abuse treatment programs, including scheduling, intake, and service delivery
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, accreditation standards, and licensing requirements
  • Develop, implement, and monitor operational policies and procedures
  • Manage budgets, financial performance, and resource allocation
  • Supervise and support administrative and non-clinical staff; assist with clinical staff coordination as needed
  • Partner with Clinical Director to align operational processes with treatment goals and best practices
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement quality improvement initiatives
  • Oversee billing, collections, and revenue cycle processes to ensure financial sustainability
  • Maintain relationships with referral sources, community partners, and stakeholders
  • Ensure a safe, welcoming, and therapeutic environment for clients and staff
  • Lead staff training initiatives related to operations, compliance, and customer service
  • Manage facility operations, including vendor relationships and maintenance
  • Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2-3 years experience in healthcare operations,
  • Experience in substance abuse or behavioral health settings strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, state licensing, accreditation bodies such as CARF or Joint Commission)
  • Proven experience in budget management and operational efficiency
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Preferred Skills:
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems
  • Data-driven decision-making and performance management experience
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities
  • Work Environment:
  • Outpatient clinical setting
  • May require occasional evening or weekend hours depending on program needs
