Summary AMG Aluminum North America, LLC (AMG Al) is seeking an Operations Manager to join our team at our plant in Malaga, Washington. This position is responsible for managing all aspects of the site, including but not limited to maintaining a safe working environment, maintaining environmental compliance, driving and optimizing production results, adhering to and improving quality procedures, talent management, and fostering a culture of employee engagement. The Operations Manager establishes department goals and provides direction, guidance, and development opportunities for employees. This position reports to the Vice President of Operations. Responsibilities and Duties Lead by example and set expectations for compliance with all internal and external safety and environmental regulations, policies, procedures, and systems; promote a culture of safety, environmental responsibility, and employee engagement Foster a positive, respectful work environment that is aligned with AMG's Values; set expectations for compliance with the AMG Code of Business Conduct and all other Company policies and procedures Work closely with Plant Safety and Environmental Management to ensure that the highest standards of safety and environmental safeguards are developed and maintained; ensure grounds, buildings, equipment, machines, processes, service and repairs are consistent with relevant OSHA and EPA regulations, industry codes and/or standards; ensure required tests, evaluations, and assessments are performed on schedule and immediately address any deficiencies Establish production schedules and labor requirements to achieve required production goals and objectives Review and analyze production volume, cost, quality, equipment maintenance, and labor utilization to drive and optimize production results Identify and resolve non-conformances, implement corrective actions, and report issues of concern to the Vice President of Operations Develop, track, and report critical KPI's on established reporting schedule; drive results to achieve Company financial goals Lead site Supervisors; develop and audit performance expectations; coach for improved performance; document any corrective actions and ensure compliance with training and development plans Create and foster positive employee relations with all staff Drive employee accountability by investigating policy infractions and maintaining airtight documentation for all disciplinary actions. Collaborate with HR and Vice President of Operations to ensure all resolutions withstand union grievance procedures and align with company policy. Identify and evaluate continuous improvement opportunities; engage frontline employees in continuous improvement and problem-solving initiatives Work collaboratively with operations leadership, engineering, and purchasing to identify, develop and execute capital projects; engage in evaluation of critical suppliers Utilize Lean principles to optimize processes, systems, people, and equipment Qualifications/Skills/Requirements BS degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Mechanical/Industrial related field of study strongly preferred 7-10 years' experience in operational leadership in manufacturing environment required; melt shop, foundry, steel or other relevant industry experience strongly preferred Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building, and communication skills (verbal and written) required Experience in a matrixed organization preferred Experience in a union environment strongly preferred Team player with demonstrated ability to foster employee engagement Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles required; demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement Strong mechanical aptitude, logical reasoning, and problem-solving skills Ability to adapt easily to change and lead others through it Excellent attention to detail, time management, organization and follow through skills Ability to work flexible hours as required Possess a thorough understanding of relevant industry codes, OSHA and EPA regulations Compensation & Benefits The listed pay range for this position is $110,000 - $135,000 annually depending on experience. Discretionary bonus eligible AMG Al offers two High Deductible, HSA-Eligible, Medical Plans and Quarterly HSA Employer Contributions to off-set the cost of medical expenses. We also offer a dental and vision plan under our Section 125 Cafeteria Style Benefits plan. AMG covers a group term life, AD&D, a short & long-term disability and offers an Employee Assistance Program. AMG offers voluntary coverage under a life insurance and AD&D plan as well as a Critical Illness and Accident Prevention gap insurance plan. This role is eligible for participation in AMG's Fitness Reimbursement program, which allows eligible employees to be reimbursed up to $600 per year for gym membership fees. AMG offers a 401(k) plan with a dollar-for-dollar match on the first 3% employees contribute and an additional 50% match on the next 2% that employees contribute. In addition, AMG may offer a discretionary employer contribution to eligible employee's retirement plans. 0 - 15% travel Selected candidates will be required to meet the physical and safety requirements of the role, which may include a post-offer drug screen and background check in accordance with Washington state law.
