The Role We're looking for a passionate, polished, and highly capable Tasting Room Associate to join our team. This is not just a pouring position — it's a hospitality role at its core. You will be the face of Matthew's Winery, guiding guests through curated wine experiences while maintaining the warmth, attentiveness, and professionalism our brand is known for. Our tasting room sees high guest volume , particularly through the summer season. We need someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, stays composed under pressure, thinks quickly on their feet, and never lets the energy of a busy day compromise the quality of a single guest's experience. What You'll Do Welcome and engage guests in a genuine, personable way from the moment they arrive Lead wine tastings that are informative, entertaining, and tailored to each guest's preferences and experience level Manage multiple tables, reservations, and walk-in guests simultaneously without sacrificing service quality Anticipate guest needs before they're expressed — refilling glasses, adjusting pacing, reading the room Troubleshoot guest concerns, special requests, and unexpected situations with professionalism and a solutions-first mindset Maintain deep product knowledge across Matthew's portfolio and confidently make wine recommendations Process sales transactions accurately, including wine club sign-ups, bottle purchases, and merchandise Support the team in maintaining a clean, organized, and visually appealing tasting room throughout the day Collaborate closely with fellow Associates and leadership to ensure smooth operations during peak periods Uphold all Washington State liquor laws and responsible service practices What We're Looking For Hospitality is your instinct, not just your job title. 2+ years of experience in a server, bartender, or hospitality role — high-volume experience strongly preferred Proven ability to manage a busy section, juggle competing priorities, and deliver consistent, high-quality service under pressure A calm, positive, and adaptable demeanor — you bring the best version of yourself on the hardest days Strong communication skills with a natural ability to connect with a wide range of guests Genuine enthusiasm for wine, food, and the stories behind them Wine knowledge, WSET or sommelier certifications a plus but not required MAST certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start) Availability to work weekends, holidays, and peak summer season — this is non-negotiable and central to the role Physical ability to stand for extended periods and carry cases of wine as needed Why Matthew's Winery Work in one of Washington's premier wine destinations Be part of a team that genuinely cares about craft — in the cellar and in the tasting room Competitive hourly wage + tips Wine education opportunities and staff tastings Employee discounts on wine purchases Wine club perks and seasonal team events Compensation $18.30/hour + tips Part-time seasonal positions available.
