Job Description

The General Manager - Snow Removal Operations is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the snow and ice management division, including sales, operations, staffing, client relationships, equipment management, budgeting, profitability, and strategic growth. This individual serves as the operational leader of the division and is accountable for delivering exceptional service, maintaining safety standards, and achieving financial performance goals. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with experience in snow removal, landscaping, construction, logistics, or field operations management who can successfully manage both people and processes in a fast-paced, weather-driven environment. Primary Responsibilities Leadership & Business Management
  • Lead and manage the overall snow removal division.
  • Work directly with the owner to develop annual operating plans, budgets, and revenue targets and expansion opportunities.
  • Monitor division profitability and take corrective action when necessary.
  • Establish operational procedures, service standards, and performance expectations.
  • Drive growth through working with the sales team on new business development and client retention. Operations Management
  • Oversee all snow and ice operations during winter snow and ice events.
  • Responsible for route planning, managing and training subcontractors in each route.
  • Monitor weather forecasts and proactively prepare operational resources.
  • Ensure all contractual obligations and service levels are met.
  • Manage emergency response operations during major weather events.
  • Continuously improve operational efficiency and productivity. Team Leadership
  • Recruit, hire, train, and manage snow removal personnel.
  • Develop foremen, route managers, and field supervisors.
  • Conduct performance reviews and establish accountability measures.
  • Manage scheduling and staffing requirements for seasonal and full-time personnel.
  • Foster a culture of safety, professionalism, and customer service. Client Relations & Sales
  • Maintain relationships with key commercial and residential clients.
  • Conduct site visits and property evaluations.
  • Work with sales team or singly to prepare proposals, estimates, and service agreements.
  • Manage contract renewals and seasonal account retention in coordination with the team.
  • Resolve client concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Identify opportunities to expand services and increase revenue. Equipment Management
  • Oversee fleet, equipment, and material inventory.
  • Coordinate maintenance schedules and repairs.
  • Ensure operational readiness of trucks, plows, skid steers, loaders, and salt equipment.
  • Manage equipment utilization and replacement planning.
  • Monitor fuel usage, maintenance costs, and asset performance. Financial Management
  • Develop and manage snow/seasonal budgets.
  • Monitor labor costs, equipment costs, material usage, and overhead expenses.
  • Review job costing and profitability reports.
  • Ensure accurate billing and invoicing procedures.
  • Work closely with accounting and administration teams to maintain financial accuracy. Qualifications Required
  • 5+ years of management experience in snow removal.
  • Proven leadership and team management experience.
  • Strong operational planning and scheduling abilities.
  • Experience managing teams, budgets and financial performance.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work extended hours, nights, weekends, and holidays during weather events.
Pay:
$85,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
