Assistant Director of Operations

Position Overview Bighorn Airways, Inc. is seeking an experienced aviation professional to serve as Assistant Director of Operations. This role supports the Director of Operations in overseeing day-to-day flight operations while ensuring strict compliance with 14 CFR Part 135, Part 91, and contract operations. The Assistant Director plays a key role in operational control, regulatory adherence, and the safe execution of company flight activities. This is a safety-sensitive leadership position and may act on behalf of the Director of Operations when delegated. Key Responsibilities

• Support compliance with FAA regulations and company OpSpecs
• Assist with SOP development and implementation
• Coordinate crew scheduling and duty time compliance
• Participate in the Safety Management System (SMS)
• Assist with FAA OpSpecs and Foreign Operating Certificates
• Maintain operational manuals and documentation
• Issue operational notices to crews when delegated
• Evaluate operational suitability of airports and routes
• Support flight planning and rostering
• Assist with budgeting and operational forecasting
• Participate in incident and accident reporting
• Supervise designated operational staff as assigned Required Qualifications
• FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate (ATP preferred)
• Minimum 5 years experience in flight operations or aviation management
• Part 135 experience preferred
• Strong regulatory and operational knowledge
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Willingness to travel on short notice Physical & Regulatory Requirements This position requires the ability to sit for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and comply with DOT pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing requirements.
