Job Description
Definition and Class Characteristics Nevada County's Elections Department is hiring Clerk Recorder Assistant I-Temporary staff for the Primary Election June 2, 2026. This position will work anywhere between 15 to 40 hours per week based on department need. Join an extraordinary Elections department! We are hiring for both office and warehouse positions for the upcoming Primary Election June 2, 2026. Ideal office assistant candidates are diligent with outstanding customer service skills.
Office assistant duties include:
Maintaining the voter registration roll including processing affidavits, contacting registrants for additional information, verifying precincts, entering and updating data in the computer. Generating reports, notices and labels, maintaining affidavit files, and notifying other counties of new registrants. Preparing assembling and distributing publications, notices, sample ballots, ballot cards and other printed materials. Answering phones, assisting customers and working with public media to communicate up to date and accurate information regarding voting procedures, rights and regulations. In addition to the office setting, some positions are working in an Elections warehouse. The ideal candidates are be able to stay focused on repetitive tasks and are required to have a valid driver's license.Warehouse worker duties will include:
Supporting the Elections office. Supply distribution, setting up and tearing down of vote centers countywide. Working with sensitive materials and technology. Lifting and moving up to 25 pounds. The Clerk-Recorder Assistant I is the entry-level class in this series. Under close supervision, this position performs a full range of assigned duties related to Elections and the administration of Elections. Education and Experience Required Equivalent to completion of twelfth grade and at least one year of clerical experience at a level equivalent to the position of Office Assistant II with the County of Nevada. OR Associate of Arts/Sciences degree from an accredited college or university.NOTE:

Temporary County employees shall accrue at the rate of one (1) hour of sick leave for each thirty (30) hours worked. Temporary County employees can accrue a maximum of 80 hours of sick leave which may be carried over from one fiscal year to the next.Medical Benefits:
