June 2026 - 4.49% increase to base pay (3.00% Across-the-Board + 1.49% Market Adjustment) June 2027 - 4.49% increase to base pay (3.00% Across-the-Board + 1.49% Market Adjustment) Division Chief I, Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk are managers with responsibility for planning and coordinating the work of a division and formulating operating procedures and practices. Under general direction of the Chief Deputy Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk, incumbents serve as the assistant head of a large division or the head of a small division within the department and are responsible for the day-to-day operations of a branch office. Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to residential, commercial and personal property valuations, auditing, property tax exemptions, change in ownership determination, exclusions from reassessment, and cadastral mapping activities. Minimum Qualifications Two (2) years of experience as an Assistant Division Chief, Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk in the County of San Diego, or in an equivalent class in another California county; OR , Two (2) years of experience as a Supervising Appraiser I, Supervising Appraiser II or Supervising Audit-Appraiser or Cadastral Supervisor in the County of San Diego, or in an equivalent class in another California county; OR , Two (2) years of supervisory experience over appraiser or cadastral mapping/GIS staff in a property assessment jurisdiction.
Note:
Experience in an Assessment/Valuation environment is highly desirable. Some positions in this class require possession of a permanent Appraiser's Certificate issued by the California State Board of Equalization. Required Licenses, Certifications or Registrations Required licenses, certifications and registrations must be maintained throughout employment in this class. Positions may involve necessary and timely transportation for field travel, requiring the ability to arrange transportation to different worksites, meetings, or field work.
