The members of the Testa Family own Testa Produce, Inc. with the controlling interest currently held by Peter Testa. Testa Produce's roots date back to 1912, with founder Dominick Testa selling stalks of celery door-to-door out of a basket. The creation of the Chicago Terminal Produce Market provided a central selling location for years. As the restaurant industry evolved, so did Testa Produce. In 2011, Testa expanded yet again and moved into its new home: a 91,300 square foot facility to accommodate an ever-growing list of restaurant, hotel and food service customers.
Essential Functions:
Perform general physical activities in a warehouse, including loading, unloading, selecting, sorting, and moving products and materials manually Safely operate the forklift to move products throughout the facility including pulling and stocking of product Utilize powered industrial trucks, including forklifts (including stand-up) and pallet rider jacks to transfer merchandise from one location to another Transport filled and completed orders to the designated shipping assembly areas for further processing Maintain a clean and organized workspace to promote safety and efficiency in the warehouse Select customer orders accurately and efficiently using the Warehouse Management System (WMS) Work closely with the Dispatch/Warehouse team to ensure the correct handling of picked orders Perform quality checks to ensure the accuracy of picked orders and report any issues or discrepancies to the supervisor Comply with all applicable OSHA and Food Safety regulations
Competencies :
Ability to work with others in a team environment and independently Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Problem solver with robust analytical skills Ability to follow directions and willing to learn Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently to effectively communicate with others Able to work weekends and holidays and be flexible to work overtime Must wear safety shoes as part of PPE while performing duties Ability to work in refrigerated elements Must have a safety mindset and prioritize workplace safety in all tasks and responsibilities
Education, and Experience:
High school diploma or GED At least 1 year of recent and successful experience performing the above functions in a significant manufacturing or warehouse/distribution environment. Prior distribution or food industry experience preferred Experience with Power Industrial Equipment including forklifts and RF scanner, preferred
Compensation:
$ 16.60/hour
Schedule :
Monday - Thursday (Friday and Sunday off) Start time: 7:00am Some mandatory Holiday work included
Physical Demands :
Lift up to 50lbs Stand or walk for long periods of time Work in cold and wet cooler conditions for extended periods of time
