Job Title:
Order Picker / Warehouse Loader Job Description This warehouse role combines order picking and loading responsibilities in a fast-paced distribution environment. You will safely operate material handling equipment, build and load accurate orders, and maintain a clean and organized work area while meeting productivity and accuracy standards. Responsibilities Safely operate tow motors, forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment as required. Perform and complete daily pre-trip safety inspections on all equipment being operated. Unload returned empty kegs and pallets from route trucks. Sort and organize empty kegs and pallets by brand and size in the loading bay. Use an iPad with inventory management software (EasyOps) to support order picking and inventory tasks. Pick draft orders within the draft cooler and load them onto draft route trucks. Report draft product discrepancies, out-of-stocks, date issues, and order picking issues to the appropriate team members. Load package orders that have been picked and staged by order selectors onto draft routes. Maintain proper cleanliness and organization in the loading bay and dunnage areas, ensuring they are clean and organized at the end of each shift. Maintain proper organization and cleanliness in the draft cooler. Use a voice pick system to pick and build pallets of wine and spirits products in the designated pick area. Build stable pallets and combine picked pallets into finished pallets according to loading requirements. Safely navigate the pick area, taking precautions not to drop product from pallets. Transport finished pallets to the wrap machine and ensure they are properly wrapped. Drop wrapped pallets in predefined staging lanes for auditors to count. Communicate with auditors to resolve any errors identified on previously dropped pallets. Follow a loading manifest to combine pallets and prepare them for loading onto outbound trucks. Load outbound trucks for next-day delivery according to the loading manifest and staging plan. Maintain a minimum picking standard measured in cases per hour, as set by the company. Maintain a minimum accuracy standard with fewer than five picking errors per week. Work until all orders are picked and loaded, understanding that end-of-shift time depends on order volume, attendance, and overall team performance. Essential Skills Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced warehouse environment. Strong attention to detail and accuracy when picking and loading orders. Basic mathematical skills to verify quantities and perform simple calculations. Ability to work proficiently with minimal oversight. Ability to lift and maneuver kegs weighing up to approximately 155 lbs. Ability to repetitively lift cases weighing between 22-50 lbs. Comfort working in two different temperature climates, including a cooler at approximately 36 degrees and an ambient-temperature loading bay. Experience operating sit-down and stand-up tow motors. Previous experience operating electric pallet jacks (EPJ), order pickers, and reach trucks. Comfort working at heights while picking in certain areas. Prior order selecting or order picking experience (preferred but strongly beneficial). Experience with forklift and material handling operations. Ability to use RF scanners and voice pick systems to complete picking tasks. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with shipping and receiving processes in a warehouse environment. Familiarity with inventory control and basic inventory management practices. Experience using an iPad or similar device with inventory management software such as EasyOps. Ability to maintain a strong attendance record and reliability in shift-based work. Capability to meet or exceed a target of approximately 100 cases picked per hour on average. Work Environment The role is based in a warehouse environment that includes both climate-controlled areas and open shipping and receiving zones where doors may remain open. You will work in a draft cooler at approximately 36 degrees as well as in an ambient-temperature loading bay and general warehouse areas. The position involves regular use of forklifts, tow motors, pallet jacks, order pickers, reach trucks, RF scanners, iPads with inventory software, voice pick systems, and wrap machines. Shifts typically run Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until end of shift and Monday through Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until end of shift, with end times determined by order volume, attendance, and team performance. Start times may be adjusted earlier as operational needs evolve. The work is physically demanding and requires frequent lifting, moving, and stacking of cases and kegs in an active distribution setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of La Vergne, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
