Job Description

Job Title:
Order Selector Job Description The Order Selector accurately and efficiently picks sales and production orders using a handheld device and warehouse management tools. This role ensures that products are selected, inspected, staged, and documented according to established quality, safety, and operational standards, supporting smooth warehouse operations and on-time, accurate deliveries. Responsibilities Pick orders according to assigned pick tickets, ensuring the correct item number, quantity, lot, and unit of measure for each order line. Use RF scanners and other warehouse management system (WMS) tools to accurately facilitate the picking of orders. Perform visual inspections of products to ensure they meet quality standards before staging for shipment. Stage small parcel orders for checking and shipping as needed. Build and stage stable, acceptable pallets for freight orders for checking and shipping. Inspect and maintain warehouse equipment, documenting findings to ensure all equipment meets operational and safety requirements. Report any issues with equipment to the Warehouse Supervisor or Manager immediately. Operate all warehouse equipment safely and in accordance with operational standards. Assist in the unloading of goods following established processes when needed. Support physical inventory counts and related activities. Follow all established processes and procedures listed on the job description training matrix and any assigned ad-hoc topics. Meet or exceed productivity, quality, and safety metrics. Maintain required warehouse documentation as defined in the Quality Management System (QMS). Identify and suggest improvements to warehouse operations and processes. Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized work area to ensure proper storage and delivery of products, keeping the warehouse consistently visitor ready. Adhere to company policies and procedures, including safety, security, and quality standards, as outlined in internal manuals and handbooks. Provide high-quality customer service to internal teams, customers, and vendors. Respond promptly and professionally to internal and external inquiries. Ensure the warehouse is properly secured before leaving at the end of the day. Work overtime when required to meet operational needs. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Warehouse Supervisor or Manager. Essential Skills Ability to use warehouse management system (WMS) applications and hardware efficiently. Ability to operate or be trained on a forklift and reach lift. Ability to use a baler and RF scanner effectively. Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate order selection and documentation. Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English. Strong math skills for counting, measuring, and verifying quantities. Ability to use Microsoft applications effectively and efficiently, with the capacity to learn new software quickly. Demonstrated "can do" attitude and willingness to support team needs. Capability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly. Ability to stand in a stationary position for extended periods of time. Ability to climb ladders to pull and retrieve merchandise. Experience with order picking, order selecting, and packing in a warehouse environment. Experience using pallet jacks, forklifts, and other material handling equipment. Experience with RF scanning for picking, packing, and inventory activities. Experience with loading and unloading materials, shipping and receiving, and general material handling. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in a warehouse or distribution environment. Familiarity with production order picking and preparation for shipment. Experience using pallet jacks, forklifts, and reach lifts in a high-volume environment. Comfort working with non-climate-controlled conditions and around warehouse machinery. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple orders and priorities. Proactive approach to identifying process improvements in warehouse operations. Why Work Here? Work Environment Work takes place in a warehouse setting that is non-climate-controlled, so temperatures vary with external weather conditions. The environment can be noisy due to machinery and equipment in operation. Team members regularly use material handling equipment such as forklifts, reach lifts, pallet jacks, balers, and RF scanners, as well as WMS and Microsoft applications. Safety is a top priority, and employees must wear a safety vest and any other required personal protective equipment while performing their duties. The role involves standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing ladders, and working around active loading, unloading, and shipping areas. Overtime may be required based on operational needs. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Suffolk, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $16.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
