Picker and Packer Job Description The Picker and Packer accurately and efficiently selects, prepares, and processes warehouse products to support production and order fulfillment. This role involves heavy use of computers to manage work orders, frequent lifting, and close attention to quality and safety standards in a fast-paced warehouse and manufacturing environment. 1st shift: 8:30am - 5pm, OT open $20 - $21/hr Responsibilities Accurately pick ordered items from warehouse locations and deliver them to the appropriate departments for product modification and order fulfillment. Utilize computer systems extensively to access, review, and complete work orders in a timely manner. Read, understand, and follow standard operating procedures, work instructions, and job orders to perform assigned tasks correctly. Inspect materials and products before packing to ensure they meet quality standards. Prepare and complete orders for delivery or pickup according to schedule, including loading, packing, wrapping, labeling, and shipping. Receive and process incoming warehouse stock, including picking, unloading, labeling, and storing materials in designated locations. Perform inventory control activities and maintain high quality standards to support internal and external audits. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment while optimizing storage and workspace utilization. Complete inventory logs and records accurately and promptly in the system. Report any discrepancies, damaged goods, or issues with inventory, orders, or equipment to the appropriate personnel. Regularly lift and move materials and products as needed to support warehouse and production operations. Follow all safety guidelines and use required personal protective equipment while working around production machinery and forklifts. Essential Skills Experience working in fast-paced warehouse or manufacturing environments. Basic math skills to count, measure, and verify quantities accurately. Basic computer skills, including experience using Windows applications and navigating work orders. Ability to communicate clearly in English, both speaking and writing, to understand instructions and document information. Ability to read and follow written instructions, work orders, and standard operating procedures in English. Capability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds and frequently lift up to 35 pounds. Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and perform repetitive bending, reaching, and climbing. Ability to safely operate material handling tools such as pallet jacks. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in general labor, packaging, production, or packing roles in a warehouse or manufacturing setting. Comfort working around large equipment and machinery, including production machines and forklifts. Strong attention to detail for inspecting materials and maintaining accurate inventory records. Reliability and punctuality to support consistent shift coverage and production schedules. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a warehouse and manufacturing environment with approximately 120 employees across first and second shifts. The work area includes production machines, forklifts, and other large equipment, and the workshop is subject to heat, cold, noise, dust, and airborne particles. Temperature control can be erratic, with hot conditions in the summer and cold conditions in the winter. Personal protective equipment is required, including steel-toe boots and safety glasses. The position involves standing or sitting for extended periods, frequent lifting, and repetitive bending, reaching, and climbing. The environment is fast-paced, safety-focused, and centered around efficient material handling, inventory control, and order processing. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Irvine, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
