Picker Packer Job Description This role is responsible for accurately setting up, picking, packing, and preparing materials for shipment according to detailed client specifications. You respond quickly to pick requests, follow established procedures to maintain a safe workplace, and ensure every package is correct and ready for shipment. The position requires strong attention to detail, basic mathematical skills to verify quantities, and the technical ability to install software on products before they ship. You work closely with a team to meet daily productivity and quality goals in a fast-paced warehouse and manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Accurately set up, pick, and pack materials according to client specifications and production orders. Verify product quantities against production orders, receiving documents, or other documentation to ensure accuracy. Move materials from trucks to storage areas, from storage to work cells, and from work cells back to storage areas as needed. Deliver materials to the proper locations and place items in the correct bin or storage location. Use RF scanners and related technology to pick, track, and verify inventory and orders. Perform order picking, packing, pallet wrapping, staging, and general material handling tasks. Assist with loading and unloading trucks using appropriate equipment, such as pallet jacks and forklifts, when qualified and authorized. Install required software on products prior to shipping, following provided instructions and procedures. Follow all safety procedures, rules, and guidelines to maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized work environment. Handle packaging and shipping tasks to ensure orders are prepared correctly and on time. Work collaboratively with team members to meet production, quality, and shipping deadlines. Maintain consistent productivity while standing, walking, lifting, and moving materials throughout the shift. Use hand and power tools as needed, following proper safety and operating procedures. Essential Skills High school diploma or GED required. Experience in general labor or warehouse work. Ability to accurately verify quantities and follow written production or receiving documents. Basic mathematical skills to confirm counts and quantities in orders and packages. Ability to use RF scanners for picking and inventory tasks. Capability to perform material handling tasks, including picking, packing, staging, and pallet wrapping. Ability to operate pallet jacks and work around forklifts; forklift operation when trained and authorized. Technical aptitude to install software on products prior to shipping, following step-by-step instructions. Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs., including carrying 50 lbs. for up to 100 feet. Ability to stand or sit and move about the facility for 8 or more hours per day. Strong attention to detail and ability to see details at close range for inspection and verification tasks. Ability to use coordinated hand and finger movements to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects and operate tools. Capacity to use abdominal and lower back muscles repeatedly to support physical tasks without excessive fatigue. Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced warehouse environment. Willingness and ability to follow all safety rules, procedures, and PPE requirements. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, shipping, or distribution environment. Comfort working in a non-climate-controlled environment where temperatures may exceed outside air temperature. Experience with shipping, loading, and packaging processes in a warehouse setting. Familiarity with general warehouse equipment, including pallet jacks and forklifts. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and support multiple areas within the warehouse as needed. Work Environment You work in a warehouse and manufacturing environment with normal industrial working conditions. The facility is non-climate-controlled, and ambient air temperature can exceed the outside temperature, so you should be comfortable working in varying heat conditions. Shifts typically run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. or 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with the long-term goal of transitioning to a full-time 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. schedule. The role requires standing, walking, and moving about the facility for 8 or more hours per day, regularly lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs., and performing repetitive motions using hands, fingers, and core muscles. You use warehouse equipment such as RF scanners, pallet jacks, and, when trained, forklifts, as well as hand and power tools as needed. Personal protective equipment is required, including safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toe shoes, and hardhats, and loose-fitting clothing and jewelry are not permitted for safety reasons. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lawrenceville, GA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.76 - $19.76/hr.
