Job Title:
Packer Job Description The packer plays a key role in preparing lip balm and other personal care and pharmaceutical products for shipment by accurately packing, counting, weighing, and inspecting items on a fast-paced production line. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to stand for the entire shift, and a commitment to maintaining high quality and accuracy standards in a manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Pack lip balm and other personal care and pharmaceutical products into boxes according to established procedures and specifications. Count out the correct quantity of products for each box and verify that counts match production requirements. Weigh boxes on designated lines to ensure product counts and weights are accurate. Perform visual quality checks on products and packaging, including verifying that labels are applied correctly and checking for bubbles, misprints, and accurate expiration dates. Inspect packaging to ensure it meets quality standards before products move further along the line. Work on a fast-paced production line and maintain the required pace without slowing down the line. Stand for the entire shift while performing packing, counting, weighing, and inspection tasks. Handle general labor tasks associated with packing, picking, loading, unloading, palletizing, stacking, and labeling as needed. Follow all production, safety, and quality guidelines in the manufacturing facility. Collaborate with team members and, particularly on smaller shifts, work independently with minimal supervision while meeting production goals. Essential Skills Experience with packing, packaging, or production work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to accurately count products and verify quantities for each box. Ability to weigh boxes and interpret weight results to confirm correct counts. Strong attention to detail for performing quality checks on labels, bubbles, misprints, and expiration dates. Capability to stand for the entire shift while working on a production line. Ability to keep up with a fast-paced line without slowing production. Basic skills in picking, loading, unloading, palletizing, stacking, and labeling. Ability to work independently, especially on smaller shifts with limited on-site supervision. Reliability and consistency in following established procedures and safety guidelines. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience as a packer or in a similar general labor or production role. Comfort working with personal care and pharmaceutical products. Ability to use basic tools or items such as a calculator, knife, swipecard, and pen during the shift. Strong work ethic and willingness to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining accuracy. Work Environment This role is based in a manufacturing facility that also serves as the corporate headquarters. The work is very fast paced and requires standing for the entire shift while working on a production line. You will use basic items such as a calculator, knife, swipecard, and pen, which you may carry in a clear bag as permitted. On the first day, you receive a locker, and all personal belongings must be stored there, with only approved items carried in a clear bag. The facility operates multiple shifts, with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift opportunities available. The 3rd shift is smaller and quieter, with only a supervisor present, so team members on that shift are expected to work independently and manage their tasks with minimal oversight. The overall environment emphasizes speed, accuracy, and adherence to production and safety procedures. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Oak Brook, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.19 - $19.34/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
