Shipping Operator 2 The J.M. Smucker Company United States, Kansas, Emporia Apr 27, 2026
JOB Summary:
Must be able to communicate and work effectively in a team environment. Must be able to follow instructions (written and verbal), safely and accurately complete assigned duties and maintain GMP standards. Duties include loading and unloading trucks, receiving raw materials and products, and picking, packing, wrapping, labeling and or shipping products using forklift and pallet jack. Maintain receiving and shipping logs and make sure that incoming and outgoing product and material are in good condition. Move raw and packing materials to the production area using the FIFO standard. In addition, the worker maintains the cleanliness, organization, and safety of the warehouse. Workers are required to lift 50 pounds, walk, or stand for most of the shift.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Must be able to operate a forklift in a safe manner
- Loading and unloading trucks
- Receive Material
- Maintain and receive shipping logs
- Moving material
- Shagging of trucks
- Perform other duties as assigned
JOB SPECIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Must pass Forklift written test and driver test given by the company.MACHINES/TOOLS USED
Forklifts, electric and manual floor jacks, dollies, computer, pencil, markers, cardboard, bump hat, safety glasses, earplugs, and hair net.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Requires high school diploma, or equivalent Additional post- secondary education is preferred (Technical or vocational education) in areas of material handling, warehouse, distribution, packaging etc. Previous work experience in a manufacturing warehouse and/or distribution environment is preferred. CDL is requiredWORKING CONDITIONS
Manufacturing EnvironmentPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to stand (20%), walk (70%) and bend (10%) for 12 hours. Ability to lift approximately up to a maximum of 100 pounds (sack of flour), approximately 144 times per day from ankle to chest. Ability to reach from 2 1/2 feet approximately 540 times per day and up to 6 feet, approximately 72 times per day. May climb stairs and ladder. Performs repetitive motions, using the hands /arm approximately 800 times per day and the back twisting approximately 720 times per day. Ability to push/ pull upper body 72 times per day and whole body 10 times per day. Shortening weigh approximately 50 lbs., dry ingredients weigh 100 lbs. and barreled ingredients weigh 400 lbs.
