(SEI)
Pack and Ship Associate Job Summary:
Works under the direct supervision of Shift Supervisor and Plant Manager. Performs packaging and shipping activities associated with aluminum extrusion products. Performs one or more packaging functions such as filling, marking, labeling, banding, packing, or wrapping bundles.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Fastens plastic or metal bands around stacks, bundles, or palletizing articles prior to storage or shipment. Loads packaged products on flatbed trailers and/or into vehicles and installs plastic wrap to protect extruded aluminum products and bracing/dunnage as required. Complies with safety rules and regulations. Maintains work area, equipment, and supplies in a neat and orderly condition. Performs associated duties as assigned or required in packaging and shipping of products. Accountable and Responsible for Quality Control. Uses Sales Orders (SO), SO Summary, Packing Lists, Bill of Lading, and other documents to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping schedules. Ascertains type and quantity of product to be shipped and packing requirements, such as bundles or wrapping material to be used from FSO. nspects extrusions prior to packing and wrapping. Extrusions are to be spot checked on the load with squares and dial calipers if needed. Extrusions need to be checked for scratches, dents, bows, blisters, hooks, twists, and carbon marks on all surfaces. Places rejected extrusions aside for final inspection by supervisor/plant manager. Cuts lumber per packing requirement and customer specifications. Packages extrusions per specifications per order. Counts extrusions in the bundle to be banded to verify number specified on work order. Places packing labels on both ends of the package with the customer's name, order number, address, or other identifying data. Counts pieces and records number of banded bundles on pack/ship report. Designated fork truck operators and back up operators will inspect the fork truck prior to the shift and fill out the daily inspection sheets. Designated fork truck operators will move age flats to packing benches and removing bundles to the storage areas. Stacks and bands bundled extrusions on pallet per customer specifications. Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications. Inspects material handling equipment for defects and notifies maintenance personnel for repair. Operates fork truck or hand truck, and/or overhead crane to move bundles or pallets from shipping storage area to be loaded on a flatbed trailer or Conestoga trailer. Suggests changes in working conditions to increase efficiency. Performs other duties as assigned. Education and Experience:
High School Graduate preferred. Ability to operate a forklift, crane, banding machine, etc. preferred.

Estimated On-The-Job Training Period:
Three (3) to six (6) months. The above qualifications are guidelines; alternative qualifications may be substituted if sufficient to perform the duties.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds at times. Prolonged periods of walking, standing, and lifting.
