Sortation Associate Job Description The Sortation Associate is responsible for manually and visually sorting recyclable paper materials on a conveyor line to ensure quality standards are met. This role plays a critical part in maintaining safety, efficiency, and product quality within a fast-paced recycling warehouse environment. Responsibilities Sort recyclable materials based on type and quality. Load sorted materials into recycling machinery. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Assist with routine cleaning of equipment. Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the supervisor. Remove debris, trash, plastics, metals, or other contaminants from conveyor lines. Maintain line speed and productivity while ensuring accuracy and quality standards. Assist with general housekeeping and other warehouse duties as assigned. Essential Skills Ability to sort paper, cardboard, and debris on a fast-paced recycling line. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive motions. Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 40-50 pounds as required. Comfortable working in an industrial environment with noise, dust, and variable temperatures. Basic ability to identify different types of paper and recyclable materials (training provided). Dependable attendance and ability to work scheduled shifts, including overtime when required. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Standing for long periods (8-12 hours) involving bending, reaching, grasping, and hand-eye coordination. Ability to work near moving machinery and conveyor belts. Use of hands and arms continuously for sorting tasks. Additional Skills & Qualifications No prior recycling experience required; on-the-job training provided. Why Work Here? Work Environment The work is performed in a non-climate controlled environment at a Paper and Cardboard Recycling Center. It is a dusty and dirty setting with paper shreds everywhere, which can be overwhelming for some. The role involves exposure to dust, paper fibers, and industrial noise. The job requires working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment focused on safety and quality. The 1st shift is scheduled from Monday to Friday, 7am-4:30pm, with occasional Saturdays. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Olive Branch, MS. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
