Military and Commercial Crater and Packager Pay Range:

$18.00-$26.00 /hr

Position Summary:

The Crater/Packager is responsible for preparing, packaging, and crating military and aerospace components for secure shipment. This includes handling non-standard items, interpreting technical specifications, and ensuring compliance with military packaging standards to prevent damage during transport.

Key Responsibilities:

Receive and understand packaging requirements given from blueprints, specifications, or verbal instructions Build custom crates containers using woodworking tools and banding equipment Secure items using blocking, bracing, padding, and weatherproofing techniques Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment Inspect containers and packaged items to ensure quality and compliance Label and mark shipments according to military standards Coordinate loading and unloading of sensitive or oversized items Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols

Required Skills & Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent Carpentry or woodworking knowledge 1-3 years of experience in packaging, crating, or logistics (military or defense industry preferred) Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications Proficiency with hand and power tools (e.g., drills, saws, nail guns) Forklift and crane certification (or ability to obtain) Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy U.S. Citizenship (required for security clearance eligibility)

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience with military packaging standards (e.g., MIL-STD-2073, ASTM D3951) Carpentry or woodworking experience

Work Environment:

Warehouse or manufacturing setting Requires standing, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and repetitive motion Use of PPE including safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toe boots May involve exposure to loud noises and varying temperatures Teamwork and cross training

Pay:

$18.00 - $26.00 per hour
