Utility Operator Job Description The Utility Operator supports a high-volume distribution center by performing a variety of general warehouse tasks focused on packaging, palletizing, and shipping office and facility-related products. This role works on the first shift and requires flexibility to assist with a wide range of duties across the operation, excluding powered equipment or forklift operation. Responsibilities Package a variety of office and facility-related products, including cleaning supplies and paper products, according to established standards and procedures. Palletize finished products securely to ensure safe and efficient transport within the distribution center and for outbound shipping. Prepare orders for shipment by organizing, labeling, and staging products in the correct areas. Support pick and pack activities as needed to fulfill customer orders accurately and on time. Follow all warehouse processes and work instructions to maintain consistency and quality in daily tasks. Maintain a clean and organized work area, contributing to the overall cleanliness of the facility. Adapt to changing priorities and perform any assigned general labor tasks within the warehouse, excluding equipment and forklift operation. Stand and move throughout the warehouse for the duration of the shift while performing repetitive tasks safely and efficiently. Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively to support smooth workflow across the distribution center. Comply with all safety guidelines and report any hazards or issues to help maintain a safe work environment. Essential Skills Ability to stand on feet for the entire shift. Capability to perform repetitive physical tasks such as packaging and palletizing. Willingness to work flexibly and take on a variety of general warehouse duties as assigned. Reliability in adhering to scheduled first-shift hours. Attention to detail to ensure accurate packaging and shipment preparation. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous warehouse or distribution center experience is a plus. Familiarity with pick and pack processes is beneficial. Comfort working in an entry-level production or warehouse environment. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced setting. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a very clean, well-ventilated distribution center dedicated to office and facility-related products. The primary schedule is first shift, with typical hours noted as approximately 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM or 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with some additional morning availability of 5-10 hours per week as needed. Work takes place in a warehouse setting focused on pick, pack, and general production activities, without the need for operating forklifts or other powered equipment. The environment emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and safety while supporting steady, physical work throughout the shift. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Groveport, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr.
