Lead Airline Packer Reports To:
Shift Manager SUMMARY:
Assure that packages are produced to the highest quality according to specification and schedule. Meet or exceed daily production goals. Promptly notify management of non-standard product, inventory shortages, and potential problems in schedule completion.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Read, understand, and follow product specification sheets and production schedules General knowledge of how to power ON/OFF packaging equipment and basic troubleshooting Full ability to perform all packer duties as a back-up if needed Ensures product code information is correct and legible on finished cases Follows pallet stacking patterns per each customer specification Locate and stage film, cartons, and labels according to specification onto the lines Apply appropriate label to bag or box according to specification when applicable Move finished product to designated staging area and properly label and tag pallet Package polybags into cartons and label and/or print on cartons according to specification Assemble appropriate carton per specification and ensure finished case is taped on top and bottom Verify case weight of finished product according to specification Assists with adding product bags onto the line from black bins or cases to be polybagged Assists with adding rework back onto the line during the shift Follow instructions of machine operator regarding line tasks or changeovers Returns unused packaging materials to inventory Understand and follow all food safety and quality procedures with proper documentation Understand and follow all safety procedures and GMPs Direct and train assigned personnel as needed for new hires or transfers from other departments Thorough understanding of ATP testing and knowledge of how to properly clean and sanitize all production equipment Keep assigned work area and equipment clean. Perform any and all additional duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to keep up with palletizing in a high-speed packaging environment Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. continually throughout the day Ability to climb and use a ladder to access pallet layers Ability to use and operate a pallet jack Must be able to stand for long periods of time on their feet all shift Ability to work independently and proceed with objectives with minimal supervision
