Job Description
Toray Advanced Composites (TAC) is a leading supplier of advanced composite materials for the aerospace, sporting goods, motorsport, and industrial markets. You will find our thermoset composite products on nearly every satellite, space launch vehicle, unmanned aircraft, military and commercial aircraft in production today. TAC also provides composites materials to industrial and recreational applications including mountain bikes, medical prosthetics, and sports equipment. Our thermoplastic prepregs, known in the industry as Cetex®, are found in a wide range of commercial and military aircraft, including large wing structures and interior applications like seats and galleys. Our Cetex products are available in unidirectional tape or fabric form in a variety of engineered thermoplastic resins including
PEEK, PPS, PEI
as well as a full line of performance thermoplastics including Nylon, PET, PC/ABS, HDPE, andPP. SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS
The Purchasing Supervisor/Commodity Manager III is responsible for leading daily purchasing and commodity execution activities across the supply chain team while supporting broader supply chain strategies and business objectives. This role provides execution leadership, establishes team priorities, coaches and develops purchasing staff and drives accountability for supplier performance, material availability, ERP data accuracy and shortage recovery activities. The role also supports strategic supply chain initiatives and special projects including supplier development, inventory optimization, process improvements, ERP enhancements, sourcing initiatives and cross-functional operational improvements. The Purchasing Supervisor/Commodity Manager III acts as a key link between Supply Chain, Operations, Planning, Quality, Engineering, Finance and suppliers to ensure alignment and execution of company priorities. In addition to direct commodity ownership responsibilities, this position supervises Purchasing and Commodity personnel, supports escalation management and helps drive continuous improvement across sites. Roles and responsibilities may evolve as business needs change.MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Team Leadership/Execution Control Lead daily and weekly execution activities across Purchasing and Commodity Management teams Establish team priorities to support production schedules, customer requirements and inventory objectives Provide coaching, mentoring, training and day-to-day guidance to buyers and commodity managers Support employee development, performance reviews, accountability and staffing recommendations in coordination the Supply Chain management Assist in developing standard work, procedures, and KPI management within the department Drive timely escalation and resolution of material shortages, supplier risks and execution issues Supply Chain Execution Oversee and manage raw material planning and procurement activities for both sites Ensure material availability supports production requirements while minimizing excess inventory Ensure min/max levels and inventory strategies are developed using data-driven methodologies Monitor and drive reduction of past due purchase orders, shortages, premium freight and aged inventory Ensure accurate supplier lead times, pricing and planning parameters are maintained within ERP systems Confirm pricing and supplier agreements are correctly maintained within AX/ERP systems Review and monitor forecasts and demand signals to support supply continuity and supplier readiness Plan and oversee subcontract/outside processing work order issuance and material coordination Review inventory positions and recommend actions to improve inventory turns and working capital performance Supplier Management Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to improve delivery, responsiveness, quality and overall performance Coordinate supplier communications related to forecasts, priorities, schedule changes and recovery plans Lead supplier escalation activities and coordinate recovery efforts with Operations, Planning and Quality teams Support sourcing activities, RFQs, supplier evaluations, cost reduction efforts and contract reviews Assist with supplier development and risk mitigation initiatives Maintain Supplier scorecards Cross Functional Coordination/Strategic Support Coordinate with Operations, Planning, Quality, Engineering, Receiving and Finance to resolve issues and support business objectives Support implementation of supply chain strategies, process improvements, ERP enhancements and operational initiatives Participate in special projects related to sourcing, inventory optimizations, SIOP, systems improvements, capacity planning and continuous improvement efforts Assist Supply Chain leadership with reporting, KPI development, presentations and business analysis as required Support data accuracy and process discipline across purchasing and planning functions Key Performance Indicators (KPIS) Supplier OTD ≥ 95% Reduction in past due purchase orders and shortages Improved shortage recovery cycle time Premium freight reduction Inventory turns improvements ERP/data accuracy ≥ 98% Supplier responsiveness and performance improvement Aged and obsolete inventory reduction Team execution and departmental KPI attainmentEXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Associate's degree and/or equivalent experience requires; Bachelor's degree preferred 10+ years of experience in Purchasing, Commodity Management, Supply Chain or related manufacturing environment Previous supervisory, team leadership or training experience required Manufacturing or composites industry preferred Strong understanding of ERP/MRP systems and supply chain execution processes Experience leading cross-functional teams and projects Strong communication, organizational and problem-solving skills Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Ability to communicate effectively with suppliers, operations teams and leadership Maintain work areas in a neat, orderly and safe manner Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements Salary range: $103,000 - $130,000 Toray Advanced Composites employment practices offer equal employment opportunity and does not discriminate against its employees or applicants because of race, color, religion, sex, pregnancy, national origin, ancestry, age, marital status, physical or mental disability, medical condition, sexual orientation, or any other basis prohibited by law.
