This role is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies, optimizing costs, and ensuring consistent material and shipping availability to support production and customer commitments. The Purchasing Manager will oversee purchasing teams at each location, standardize procurement processes, and partner closely with executive leadership to drive cost savings, supplier performance, and inventory optimization. This position owns enterprise-wide purchasing strategy, supplier relationships, and inventory planning practices across all facilities. Key Responsibilities Oversee and align purchasing operations across multiple manufacturing facilities, ensuring consistency in processes, policies, and execution. Lead and develop purchasing and inventory team members at each location, providing direction, accountability, and performance management. Develop and execute strategic sourcing initiatives focused on cost reduction, supplier consolidation, and long-term vendor partnerships. Negotiate pricing, contracts, and supply agreements to improve margins and reduce risk. Own enterprise inventory strategy, including stocking levels, reorder points, and overall inventory planning approach across all locations. Partner with operations and plant leadership to ensure inventory strategies support production schedules, while leaving execution and warehouse management at the site level. Standardize purchasing procedures, RFQ processes, and supplier evaluation methods across facilities. Oversee vendor qualification, onboarding, and ongoing supplier performance, including scorecards and periodic reviews. Travel domestically to company locations and supplier sites to support sourcing initiatives, vendor qualification, and issue resolution. Monitor supply chain risks, lead times, and market conditions, proactively adjusting sourcing strategies to avoid disruptions. Drive continuous improvement in procurement processes, systems, and reporting. Ensure all purchasing activities comply with internal controls, financial policies, and audit requirements. Serve as the escalation point for supplier issues, shortages, pricing disputes, and delivery failures. Collaborate with finance and executive leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and cost planning initiatives. Track and report key purchasing metrics, including cost savings, supplier performance, inventory turns, and on-time delivery. Build strong relationships with plant leadership and cross-functional teams across all locations. Qualifications & Experience 7+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain leadership, preferably in a multi-site manufacturing environment. Proven experience in strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier management. Experience leading and developing teams across multiple locations. Strong understanding of inventory planning, stocking strategies, and working capital optimization (strategic ownership vs. transactional control). Demonstrated ability to drive cost savings and process standardization across facilities. Experience managing RFQs, supplier evaluations, and vendor performance programs. Strong analytical, negotiation, and critical thinking skills. Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel for purchasing and inventory tracking. Experience in wire forming, metal fabrication, or similar manufacturing environment preferred. Work Environment:
This role supports multiple manufacturing facilities and requires regular domestic travel. Work environments include production settings with varying noise levels, temperature changes, and industrial conditions. Appropriate PPE is required when on the production floor.
