Equity is partnering with a leading healthcare organization to identify experienced Strategic Sourcing & Category Managers who can influence business strategy, drive supplier performance, and lead category management initiatives across the enterprise. Direct Hire | Hybrid (Minnetonka, MN - Tuesday through Thursday Onsite)
Salary Range:
$88,800 - $139,590 IT & Technology Categories Operations, Services, Marketing & Legal Categories This is not a transactional procurement role. We are seeking strategic category leaders who can partner with stakeholders, anticipate business needs, influence decision-making, and develop long-term sourcing strategies that deliver measurable business outcomes. In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders, helping shape category strategies, supplier relationships, and sourcing decisions that support organizational goals. You will be responsible for understanding business demand, forecasting future needs, managing supplier performance, and driving sourcing initiatives that balance cost, quality, innovation, and risk. Successful candidates will have experience leading category strategies, facilitating stakeholder discussions, building supplier governance programs, and creating sourcing roadmaps that align with business objectives. This role requires someone who can effectively communicate and influence at all levels of the organization while bringing together sourcing, finance, legal, supplier management, and operational considerations into a cohesive strategy.
What You'll Be Responsible For:
Category Strategy & Demand Management Develop and execute category strategies aligned with business priorities and organizational objectives. Partner with stakeholders to understand future business needs, forecast demand, and proactively identify sourcing opportunities. Facilitate strategic planning discussions and guide stakeholders toward optimal sourcing decisions. Build category roadmaps that support both short-term initiatives and long-term business goals. Leverage market intelligence, industry trends, supplier insights, and benchmarking data to inform category strategies.
Strategic Sourcing Leadership:
Lead end-to-end sourcing initiatives, including market assessments, RFPs, supplier evaluations, negotiations, contract execution, and implementation. Identify opportunities to optimize spend, reduce risk, improve supplier performance, and increase operational efficiency. Deliver measurable sourcing outcomes including cost savings, cost avoidance, process improvements, and value creation. Ensure sourcing strategies align with governance requirements, policies, and compliance standards.
Supplier Relationship & Performance Management:
Establish and maintain supplier performance management programs, including scorecards, KPIs, quarterly business reviews, and governance processes. Monitor supplier performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Collaborate with suppliers to drive innovation, improve service delivery, and enhance business value. Anticipate potential supplier risks and proactively develop mitigation strategies before issues impact the business.
Stakeholder Engagement & Influence:
Serve as a strategic business partner to senior leaders and functional teams. Build strong relationships across operations, finance, legal, IT, marketing, and healthcare business functions. Lead complex stakeholder conversations and influence decision-making through data, market insights, and business acumen. Communicate sourcing strategies, supplier performance, and category plans clearly to executive and operational audiences.
What We're Looking For:
Required Experience Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Procurement, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 4+ years of strategic sourcing, category management, procurement, or supplier management experience. Demonstrated experience developing and leading category strategies. Experience managing complex sourcing projects from strategy through implementation. Proven success partnering with business stakeholders and influencing decisions across multiple functions. Experience delivering measurable business outcomes, including cost savings, supplier improvements, and operational efficiencies. Strong understanding of contract negotiations, supplier governance, and procurement policies.
