Job Description

Overview The Supply Chain Senior Director, Strategic Sourcing leads end-to-end processes for the health system's enterprise-wide sourcing strategy by designing, implementing, and overseeing category strategies, market analyses, supplier relationships, and contract negotiations. This hands-on leader ensures best value for all goods and services procured by the organization through rigorous analysis, competitive sourcing, vendor performance management, and contract governance. The Senior Director ensures alignment with Joint Commission, Department of Health (DoH), CMS, and all applicable federal and state regulatory requirements while supporting the system's financial, clinical, and operational objectives. This role provides strategic direction, operational oversight, and leadership for the Strategic Sourcing team, driving high performance, measurable savings, and long-term supplier partnerships. Responsibilities Leads the strategic sourcing team in analyzing business needs, documenting functional and technical requirements, and integrating regulatory compliance, vendor performance, and strategic objectives. Provides leadership, guidance, and support, ensuring the team is informed of organizational changes and decisions impacting departmental success. Drives operational and strategic initiatives by developing, enhancing, and implementing project models, business solutions, and sourcing strategies through data analysis, market research, price benchmarking, and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) evaluations. Builds and maintains collaborative relationships with system leaders, clinical and operational stakeholders to gather insights, support effective decision-making, and foster successful project outcomes. Develops and manages best practices, tools, and performance improvement plans, identifying dependencies, risks, and critical path issues, and ensuring continuous process optimization across the sourcing organization. Identifies top vendors to monitor performance and together with the team lead Quarter or Bi-Annual Vendor Performance review meetings including end user departments with high spend, strategic vendors by establishing a defined agenda and making sure all actions are thoroughly followed up. Serves as an operational resource, facilitating problem resolution, coordinating cross-functional efforts, providing timely updates, and ensuring deadlines and milestones are met. Coordinates and manages multiple complex projects across the Health System simultaneously, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and regulatory compliance. Ensures adherence to quality standards, supporting the creation, maintenance, and review of business operations and project-specific documentation, including SOPs, work plans, and training materials. Provides structured KPI, status, and savings reporting to stakeholders and senior management using established RACI frameworks, ensuring accountability, clarity, and data-driven decision-making. Coaches and mentors team members on vendor negotiation, performance management, contract lifecycle processes, and strategic sourcing best practices to achieve optimal results. Tracks and reports on team performance, including savings results, performance improvements, and transaction closures, ensuring measurable impact and continuous improvement. Owns annual savings targets, including total savings, utilization, rebates, cost avoidance, and other value-driven metrics, and implements strategies to achieve and exceed objectives. Proactively identifies opportunities for cost savings, process optimization, and strategic enhancements across the enterprise. Performs other duties as assigned or required. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or related field required. Master's degree (MBA or MHA) preferred. Minimum seven (7) years of strategic sourcing and contract management experience, preferably in healthcare, life sciences, or pharmaceuticals. Proven leadership experience managing teams and large-scale sourcing initiatives. Expertise in supply chain management, ERP/EMR integration, contract management software, cost analysis, budgeting, and market/supplier research. Proficiency with MS Office Suite, ERP platforms, Contract Management Software, and EDI/GHX. Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills. Advanced analytical, financial modeling, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results in a complex, fast-paced environment.
