Job Description
EnerSys Advanced Systems (EAS) is a specialized division of EnerSys—a global leader in stored energy solutions for industrial applications. EAS focuses on cutting-edge energy solutions for the aerospace, defense, and medical industries. Certain positions at EnerSys Advanced Systems require access to information or technology that is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and other U.S. government security regulations. Candidates for these positions should be a "U.S. Person" under ITAR (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or a refugee/asylee) and/or otherwise comply with ITAR requirements for access rights to be considered for a position.

- Manage daily purchasing activities to ensure timely acquisition of materials, components, and services to meet production schedules and customer deadlines.
- Act as the primary link connecting procurement to both planning and production teams, rapidly responding to material shortages, delays, and changes to prevent line stoppages.
- Collaborate with Engineering Product Development teams in support of material needed for new product development.
- Continuously monitor open orders and work directly with suppliers to expedite deliveries, resolve delays, and adjust priorities based on production needs.
- Issue, track, and update purchase orders; ensure accuracy in terms, specifications, delivery schedules, and compliance with defense contracting standards.
- Identify, prioritize, and aggressively resolve material shortages through alternative sourcing, split shipments, or expedited logistics.
- Interpret and act on MRP/ERP-generated demand signals to keep material pipelines aligned with dynamic build schedules.
- Track supplier on-time delivery, quality performance, and responsiveness; escalate issues and drive corrective actions when necessary.
- Negotiate best possible terms focusing not only on cost but also on lead times, flexibility, and risk-sharing clauses to support agile production needs.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Program Management to resolve material specification conflicts, inspection delays, or documentation gaps that impact material flow.
- Attend daily production and planning meetings to proactively identify upcoming material risks and provide solutions.
- Engage with outside consultants and customers during times of audit. Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- 10 + years of progressive experience in procurement management
- 3+ years in a management role in a defense or aerospace manufacturing environment strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of defense industry regulations (e.g., ITAR, DFARS).
- Strong proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., Visual, SAP) and Microsoft Office Suite.
