Client Overview Our client is a well-established, mission-driven nonprofit organization committed to serving the community through impactful programs and essential services. As the organization continues to grow, they are expanding operations with the upcoming purchase of a new kitchen space in Midtown Manhattan to support food-related initiatives. The organization values operational excellence, cost efficiency, and strong vendor partnerships to maximize its impact. They are now looking for a Business and Procurement Manager . Salary/Hourly Rate $45/hr - $55/hr Position Overview The Business and Procurement Manager will lead procurement strategy and vendor management, with a strong emphasis on food and hospitality-related purchasing. This role will be instrumental in negotiating contracts, analyzing organizational spend, and driving cost-saving initiatives targeting 5-6% savings. The ideal candidate brings expertise in procurement within a nonprofit or hospitality environment and is comfortable supporting large-scale operational projects, including the launch of a new kitchen facility. Responsibilities Of The Business And Procurement Manager Lead procurement and purchasing operations across the organization, with a focus on food vendors and kitchen-related supplies. Negotiate contracts and pricing with food vendors and service providers to secure favorable terms on behalf of the organization. Analyze current spend and implement cost-reduction strategies, targeting 5-6% savings. Oversee vendor selection, onboarding, and performance management. Support the procurement and operational setup of a new kitchen space in Midtown Manhattan, including sourcing equipment and vendors. Develop and enforce procurement policies and internal controls in alignment with nonprofit standards. Collaborate with finance and program teams on budgeting, forecasting, and purchasing needs. Ensure compliance with grant and donor procurement requirements. Monitor purchasing trends and identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies. Maintain accurate procurement records and support audit processes. Required Experience/Skills For The Business And Procurement Manager 5-8+ years of procurement, purchasing, or operations experience. Experience negotiating with food vendors or within a food service or hospitality environment. Strong analytical skills with experience evaluating spend and implementing cost savings initiatives. Proven ability to manage vendor relationships and contracts. Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities. Proficiency in Excel and procurement or ERP systems. Preferred Experience/Skills For The Business And Procurement Manager Background in nonprofit procurement or hospitality/food service industries. Experience with large-scale food purchasing or kitchen operations. Familiarity with grant-funded procurement compliance. Experience supporting operational build-outs or new facility launches. Experience with systems such as Sage Intacct, Coupa, or similar platforms. Process improvement or cost optimization experience. Education Requirements Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Hospitality Management, or a related field required. Relevant certifications (e.g., CPSM, CPPB) are a plus.
