Full Job Description Description:
SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
The Purchasing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the procurement of goods and services for the organization. This role ensures materials, products, supplies, and services are purchased at the best possible price while maintaining quality standards and timely delivery. The Purchasing Supervisor works closely with vendors, suppliers, and internal departments to support operational and business goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Develop and implement purchasing strategies and policies. Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers and vendors. Manage inventory levels and ensure adequate supply of materials. Review and approve purchase orders, contracts, and agreements. Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues related to quality, delivery, or pricing. Build and maintain supplier relationships. Analyze market trends and identify cost-saving opportunities. Collaborate with finance, operations, and production teams to forecast purchasing needs. Maintain accurate procurement records and reports. Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulations. Lead and supervise purchasing staff or buyers as needed. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred. 3-5+ years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience. Strong negotiation and vendor management skills. Excellent organizational and analytical abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and procurement software/ERP systems. Strong communication and leadership skills. Ability to manage budgets and work in a fast-paced environment. Working knowledge of ERP and MRP systems required.
PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Knowledge of inventory management practices. Experience with contract management. Ability to analyze data and prepare reports. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Experience with
ISO 9001
2015 preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is expected to communicate clearly and listen well. The employee is frequently required to move throughout the office and production area; lift weight up to 25 pounds and use hands to finger, feel and reach.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position has 2 direct reports
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position operates in an office, warehouse and assembly environment
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
Full Time Monday through Friday 8:00AM to 5:00PM TRAVEL May require occasional travel to meet suppliers or attend industry events.
