Job Description

We are looking for a Commodity Manager to support procurement strategy and supplier performance for a Long-term Contract position based in San Antonio, Texas. This role will focus on cost optimization, market intelligence, supplier development, and cross-functional collaboration to strengthen sourcing outcomes. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in procurement operations and negotiation while helping ensure supply continuity, quality, and responsiveness across assigned commodity areas.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead assigned commodity initiatives to meet annual savings objectives and performance measures that support broader procurement goals.
  • Work closely with engineering, quality, and sourcing teams to align specifications, supplier capabilities, and category strategies.
  • Evaluate market conditions and cost movements on a quarterly basis, translating findings into recommendations for sourcing plans and risk reduction.
  • Identify and advance cost-improvement opportunities by collaborating with technical teams on design alternatives, supplier readiness, and efficient product ramp-up.
  • Prepare supplier performance insights for recurring business reviews, monitor action items, and support continuous improvement planning.
  • Expand the supply base by identifying and helping onboard suppliers with relevant experience to improve competition, supply stability, and flexibility.
  • Execute regional sourcing and localization efforts with internal partners and preferred suppliers to improve responsiveness and reduce overall cost.
  • Monitor supplier quality and delivery results through scorecards and regular reviews, driving corrective actions when service levels fall short.
  • Support initiatives that streamline receiving and stocking processes while helping shorten lead times across the supply chain.
  • Manage urgent supply issues with planning teams and suppliers by coordinating containment and recovery actions to minimize delivery disruptions.
