POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for providing both direct service as well as staff supervision and oversight to meet the BIP treatment needs and peer lounge treatment needs of the people of the Maniilaq Service Area. Incumbent will be responsible for tracking all BIP intakes, providing BIP assessments, and serve of lead BIP treatment provider. Incumbent will be responsible for coordination with external referral sources and/or internal referral sources (BHS intake coordinator, IC team, etc.) to ensure clients receive appropriate referrals and timely access to services. Incumbent will provide leadership and guidance to Peer Support Specialists, Substance Abuse (CDC) staff, Case managers as well as village based Behavioral Health Aides. Incumbent will work with the Substance Abuse/BHA Team Supervisor and Substance Abuse Treatment Team Lead to ensure fidelity to evidence-based practices as well as compliance with Medicaid, Medicare, CARF, Alaska State and Behavioral Health Services (BHS) standards. Incumbent will support scheduling and staff travel coordination. This position requires a solution-focused professional who is ready to take on the challenges and opportunities offered by serving communities in the Maniilaq Service Area. Reports to Substance Use Treatment Supervisor.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee and ensure quality care to clients referred for BIP services. This will include but not limited: Networking and relationship development with local and state entities as well as assisting clients with engagement in services. Interview, screen, assess, and refer court referrals to appropriate services. Manage all BIP intakes and initial BIP contacts coming into services Maintain all BIP treatment documents and supplies including BIP client binder, screeners, assessment tools, contract, etc. Develop and maintain individual client records in a secure and organized manner for BIP clients Provide case management/file documentation for individual clients, noting all treatment related activities and services in an accurate, professional, and timely manner. Provide BIP group services Coordinate training for all staff involved with BIP training and support QA supervisor in management of staff training recordings Ensure Maniilaq BIP programming is aligned with state regulations and requirements for BIP services and support/maintain state approval of program as needed Strengthen prevention capacity and infrastructure at the State, Tribal, and community levels. Abide by NAADAC ethical standards as adopted by the Alaska Commission for Chemical Dependency Professionals Cortication. Coordinate staff travel and housing with BHS client care coordinators as it relates to scheduling management of Peer Lounge needs Provide oversight of peer lounge staff scheduling needs and support peer lounge client care needs as they arise Provide support of Maniilaq BHS interns as needed including oversight of care, education, and supervision as appropriate Travels in region at least 4-8 months per year in order to support intern management, staff training, and in-person care needs Provide administrative/operational supervision to Peer Support Specialists, Behavioral Health Aides and Chemical Dependency Counselors. Provide clinical supervision as appropriate Ensure client referrals are acted upon in a timely manner and that clients are assisted in placement when needed. Represent the Substance Abuse Team (part of the Behavioral Health Team) to the community and work collaboratively with various agencies and stakeholders. Responsible to assist in program compliance with CARF standards, State and Federal Licensure or Regulations, Medicaid/Medicare standards, HIPAA regulations, and 42 CFR Part II. Participate in client reviews, in-service training, and professional development activities. Actively participate as a member of the BHS management team and assists in the continuous improvement efforts of the division. Ensure treatment modalities and interventions are clear, consistent, appropriate, and culturally orientated and clinical records are timely, accurate, and completed in a professional manner. Assist BHS staff and others in navigating safely when clients are experiencing a substance use/MH crisis. Travel to assigned villages to provide substance use, MH, or BIP services and training. Provide assessments and consultations to medical staff, police, schools, and other professionals and agencies as requested and when appropriate. Offer education regarding IPV/DV issues to schools, other organizations, and communities. Continue to monitor patients while in other placements or facilities and ensure safe reunification to their communities. Maintain confidentiality of patient records and treatment. Job Qualifications:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Possesses a license eligible Master's Degree in behavioral health with a dual focus on Mental Health and Addictions. Candidates with qualifying Master's level licensures will still be required to obtain their terminal Licensure (LAP, or LCSW) within two years. Must have Chemical Dependency Counselor I certification, or obtain within 1 year of hire. Ability to adjust to "bush" conditions in Arctic Alaska. Must be willing and able to transport to remote villages by small planes. Ability to work with sensitivity in a cross-cultural environment. Preferred requirements- training in BIP services (ABC modality specifically) and/or past experience of providing BIP services. Other Job Information (if applicable):
