Community Education Program Specialist Supervisor:
Community Education Coordinator Job Goal:
To provide coordination and operation of afterschool and community education programs in designated school system zones.Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. At least four (4) years of experience in community education. At least one (1) year of education, training and/or experience in one or more of the following areas: child development, teaching, counseling, social work, sociology, psychology, recreation, programming for youth. At least six months of work experience with school-age children. Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457. Possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Proficiency in oral and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups. Experience supervising and training personnel. Ability to supervise and evaluate designated personnel. Ability to develop programming specific to the needs of students. Ability to identify and solve problems as a productive team member. Ability to use technology to communicate, to manage data, and to produce/submit required reports, correspondence, and/or financial information. Physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina, and acuity to perform job responsibilities. Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require.Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals and priorities. Acts as liaison between school principals, program specialists, site managers, site personnel and parents. Facilitates communication regarding the after school and community education programs with parents, community agencies and organizations, PTA/PTO, school staff, and administrators. Coordinates registration and assigning students in after school programs. Coordinates with technology department regarding program accounting requirements. Coordinates with Child Nutrition Program for snacks for program sites. Facilitates annual site evaluations by principals. Recommends employees for community education/after school programs. Coordinates personnel with principal or site managers based on site needs. Prepares and implements training for site managers and workers. Facilitates review of weekly reports for all sites. Coordinates purchasing of supplies for all sites in accordance with Board finance procedures. Serves on system, state or community councils or committees as assigned. Supervises assigned personnel. Maintains confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters in accordance with state and federal law. Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility. Responds to inquiries and requests in a timely and positive manner. Maintains and submits required reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner. Properly cares for equipment and material resources of the school system. Uses collaboration skills to work as a team member. Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local laws. Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures. Performs any other job-related duties as assigned by the superintendent(s).Terms of Employment:
