EXEMP T X NON-EXEMPT X JOB DESCRIPTION
The Special Education Compliance Monitor ensures compliance with state and federal guidelines pertaining to special education by assisting with the coordination and monitoring of evaluation timelines, case conference committee meetings, implementation if IEPs, and supplementary/related services.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conducts new teacher onboarding for IEP writing . Informs Program Specialist and administrators of the timelines for Individual Education Plan (IEP) development, A nnual Reviews, Evaluations, Re-Evaluations, Conducts regular IEP audits to ensure compliance with federal and state law, as well as District special education policies and procedures. Manages the status of the Special Education Database review reports and provide data updates Facilitates the District Special Education Child Count . Monitors Federal Special Education Indicators . Sends Weekly Compliance Updates to Program Specialist , Lead Teachers and administrators Monitor and report out to Program Specialist the school suspension, expulsion, seclusion and restraint, and academic data for students with special needs in assigned buildings . Maintains and completes reports as requested by the District Department of Special Education Collaborates with the Special Education Director to determine compliance-related professional development and training needs . Perform duties assigned by the Special Education Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum bachelor's degree in special education ( master's p referred) with v alid Alabama Teacher Certification or Minimum 10 year's experience in special education Experience as a Lead Special Education Teacher , administrator or lead position P roficient in Microsoft Office and has exceptional project management and data analysis skills Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written Thorough knowledge of current trends and developments in the area of special education Strong understanding of federal and state special education rules, regulations, and practices Ability to effectively allocate and prioritize time to several tasks to ensure completion of all.
