Job Description

Open Avenues provides habilitation training to clients participating in all Developmental Disabilities Services Programs. This training provides clients with the opportunity to improve on the necessary skills to foster independence. The ADL (Adult Daily Living) Instructor is responsible for implementing this program through the following tasks: Supervision/Direct care 1) Provide clients with supervision/assistance during assigned lunch duty 2) Assist clients with personal care as needed 3) Treat clients with dignity, respect as individuals Instruction 1) Implement individualized habilitation training for Work Activity clients, as assigned 2) Plan and conduct group classes that address independent living skills 3) Plan and implement 2 weekly adult development classes in assigned emphasis areas 4) Document and track client progress 5) Requisition teaching supplies, as needed Communication 1) Participate in client staffing with Program Manager 2) Report client progress through verbal and/or written communication to Program Manager 3) Report problems involving clients to Program Manager or Resource Director and work toward resolution 4) Provide accurate and timely documentation 5) Maintain strict client confidentiality Workspace 0rganization and Maintenance 1) Maintain a neat, clean, and organized work environment 2) Clean and organize Life Skills kitchen, laundry room, and other jointly used areas 3) Assist team with laundry management, as needed Work Ethic 1) As a representative of Open Avenues, exhibit an attitude of professionalism when dealing with clients, staff members, client representatives, agency visitors, etc. 2) Work cooperatively with other staff members toward the success of Open Avenues 3) Develop and maintain an attitude of flexibility 4) Assist other team members as needed or assigned 5) Demonstrate a commitment to the established OA Vision, Mission, and Values Health insurance premium paid for full time employees. Additional hours for those interested in driving a bus route.
