Job Description
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.Experience:
A minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in the fields of substance abuse treatment, child welfare, community intervention, juvenile programs, victim rights, or a related field.Additional Requirements:
Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license. Must be a U.S. citizen or have legal resident status. Must complete annual training as required by the Committee on Judicial Education and Training (COJET). Must complete training as required by other County and State agencies. May be required to pass a pre-employment character and fitness background investigation, including but not limited to: fingerprinting and criminal history records check, driving records check through the Motor Vehicles Division, polygraph examination, psychological evaluation, credit check, and/or submit to and pass an alcohol and illegal drug use screening.Knowledge of:
Court organization, functions, services, practices, and procedures. Community organizations and service providers, family services, juvenile programs, social service planning, substance abuse assessment or treatment, family and marital counseling, and pertinent victim's rights information. Criminal justice procedures. Psychological, sociological, and cultural influence on interpersonal relationships and human behaviors. Basic principles/practices of case flow management, records management, automation office management, and intergovernmental relations. Business English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and composition. Clerical, office practices and procedures. Research techniques and report writing. Current MS office software. Filing and recordkeeping.Skill in:
Analyzing court programs, services and project outcomes and making recommendations for improvements. Creating public information materials and speaking in public forums. Simplifying policies and procedures. Budgeting, grant writing, and grant management. Working with a diverse group of individuals that include volunteers, judges, court staff, attorneys, treatment and service providers or professionals, participants, and the general public. Communication and supervisory skills Communicate effectively verbally and in writing and communicate orally in a face-to-face setting and by telephone with public and employees. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public. Well-organized and detail oriented.Ability to:
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, employees of other departments, representatives of other organizations, County officials, and the public. Keep management informed of key operating issues affecting the department. Remain current in knowledge required to perform assigned duties. Handle confidential matters and maintain discretion always. Work professionally and effectively with co-workers, clients, victims of crime, witnesses, and the general public. Act with courtesy, tact, and diplomacyWork Environment:
The work environment is associated with an office. The work area is adequately lighted, heated or cooled and ventilated. Juvenile Programs The work environment is associated with an office and field environment year-round in all weather conditions and includes exposure to loud noise, blood borne pathogens, dust, fumes, mist, and chemicals. This is a highly public position where contact with public may be in challenging situations.Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Sufficient vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech ability to communicate effective in-person and telephonically. Capable of frequent repetitive movement of arms, fingers, and wrists. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.Additional Job Information:
