Job Description

SUMMARY:
The Nurse Residency Program coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of a nurse residency program, overseeing and coordinating the program. Manages and maintains monthly in-service education for clinical staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
: Liaison with local education institutions to maintain close relationship with prospective nurse and vocational nurse students. Works with prospective nurse students, and interns to ensure the appropriateness of the student's placement in terms of required hours, scope, relevance, and level of responsibility and eligibility to various PMHD's programs. Coordinates interviews with nursing candidates and collaborates with HR the hiring and onboarding process of selected candidates. Will develop and implement a nurse residency and preceptor program by collaborating with all nursing departments. Will develop and or coordinate simulation activities for clinical staff. Collaborate with HR on recruitment efforts including participation on nursing career fairs. Collaborate with HR and Public relations to develop marketing material to help in recruitment efforts. Maintains Healthstreams monthly inservices for clinical staff Be available to mentor novice clinical staff as needed. Assist with NCLEX review course Identifying Educational opportunities Other duties as assigned.

INTERNAL/EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS
: Requires constant collaboration with clinical departments and local educational institutions
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Working in an indoor office environment; primarily seated and sedentary.
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. BSN or Bachelor's Degree preferred. Demonstrated clinical competence in a specialty unit. Three years clinical experience in acute care required Knowledge of the Nurse Practice Act Knowledge of patient's rights Knowledge of JCAHO standards and Title 22 regulations Knowledge of teaching techniques, adult education, and evaluation methods. Demonstrated ability to present self in a positive and professional manner.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Must have current licensure to practice registered nursing in the State of California. Current AHA BLS required upon hire. ACLS, NRP and PALS certification as required by Department. These certifications must be completed before the 90 days and must always be completed prior to being assigned to full patient ( level 3 care- see cross training policy) care in that area. See policy

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
: Manual dexterity with fine motor ability to operate and handle equipment used in the department.
