Institutes of Health, is a leading transdisciplinary therapeutic community, providing high-quality care to patients involved in the Workers Compensation system, specializing in treating Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, Chronic Pain disorders, Brain Injuries, and Sleep problems/CBTi. With offices in San Diego, Riverside, El Centro, Anaheim and Burbank we're passionate about helping our patients within a creative and supportive work environment. Institiutes of Health is seeking a dedicated First Responder Liaison to serve as the concierge-style ambassador for first responders at FRI's Burbank and Anaheim clinic locations. This is a mission-critical role where you will personally greet, guide, and support every first responder from arrival through treatment, aftercare, and beyond. You will be the trusted face of FRI for first responders, their agencies, families, and referral partners. This part-time role starts with focused hours and offers potential growth into full-time as the program expands. Key Responsibilities:
VIP First Responder Experience Personally greet and orient every first responder on Day 1, ensuring they feel welcomed, valued, and have all their questions answered. Maintain a presence in the Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) to build rapport with the first responders. Serve as the primary point of contact for first responders throughout treatment, aftercare, and beyond. Coordinate aftercare groups (NA/AA/peer-led), wellness check-ins, and ongoing support. Agency & Stakeholder Partnership Act as the go-to day-to-day contact for law enforcement, fire, EMS, and other first-responder agencies in the Burbank and Anaheim regions. Handle inquiries, coordinate care, and resolve issues quickly while escalating strategic matters as needed. Assist with new agency onboarding (tours, team introductions, program orientations). Community & Conference Outreach Personally follow up on all marketing leads and build them into long-term partnerships. Travel to multiple conferences and events throughout the year to represent FRI, staff booths, speak, and network with first-responder communities. Participate in community awareness campaigns and peer-support initiatives. Clinical & Site Integration Work side-by-side with the clinical team under the Director of Site Programs. Coordinate treatment schedules, transitions, and aftercare planning. Minimum Qualifications Required Direct lived or professional connection to first responders — Retired law enforcement/fire/EMS/military, immediate family member of a first responder, or documented experience working with this population. Deep cultural competence and understanding of the unique mental health challenges, stigma, and barriers first responders face. 2+ years in liaison, outreach, client relations, community engagement, or similar role (healthcare, public safety, or nonprofit preferred). Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, you connect authentically with first responders, families, clinical staff, and agency leadership. Service-first mindset. Every first responder is treated as VIP. Flexible availability (evenings, weekends, and on-call for urgent intakes). Willingness and ability to travel to multiple conferences annually and staff booths/events. Willingness to travel between multiple clinic locations if needed. Able to actively participate in physical activities. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Preferred Background in law enforcement, fire service, EMS, corrections, or military.
