The City of Carson is excited to announce the recruitment for the 2026 Summer Youth Employment Program which provides local youth hands-on public service experience and the opportunity to join our City team. The 2026 program will run from July 7th through August 14th, 2026 . As a participant in our Summer Youth Employment Program, you'll get the chance to: Work in a variety of city departments, including parks and recreation, public works, and administration, to name a few! Build new skills and explore potential career interests. Make a positive impact on our vibrant Carson community. This program is open exclusively to City of Carson residents . So, if you're ready to meet new people, contribute to your city, and make this summer unforgettable, we encourage you to apply! These are part-time, seasonal, at-will positions (FLSA:
Non-Exempt), limited to a maximum of 100 hours for the duration of the program. While part-time employees are not typically eligible for benefits, participants may qualify for health coverage and sick leave accruals in accordance with applicable federal and state laws.ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The Youth Employment Program operates during the summer break and opportunities for youth ages 14-21. The program's goal is to offer diverse employment experiences, allowing participants to develop valuable skills and gain exposure to a variety of career fields.Key Dates :

Friday, August 14, 2026 Worksite assignments are determined by the City of Carson based on operational needs and departmental capacity. Participants may be assigned to any City facility, park, or department office within Carson, regardless of proximity to their home address, and all assignments are final. The City is unable to accommodate requests for reassignment based on convenience or distance. Participants and their families are responsible for arranging transportation to and from the assigned worksite. By submitting an application, both the applicant and their parent or guardian acknowledge and accept these conditions.QUALIFICATIONS
The following criteria must be met in order to have an application considered for theCity of Carson Youth Employment Program:
The applicant must be a resident of Carson, supported by valid verification documents. (proof required at time of submission) Carson Youth must be between the ages of 14-21, on or before the program start date. Carson Youth applicants under 18 years of age will be required to obtain a work permit. Carson Youth Applicants who are 18 years or older who receive a job offer are required to undergo a drug screening and background check. Applicants must answer all required supplemental questions and include all required supporting documentation. All Summer Youth Employment Program participants will be expected to conduct themselves in a professional, respectful, and responsible manner at all times while participating in program activities. Failure to meet these expectations may result in being removed from the program.Recruitment Process :
