Job Description

Our dedicated and compassionate faculty and staff are driven by a common mission: Contribute to innovative approaches in predicting, preventing, and curing diseases, shaping the future of medicine through cutting-edge research. We are looking for an Administrative Program Coordinator to provide operational and programmatic support to the Associate Director for Community Outreach and Engagement (COE), advancing the cancer center's mission to reduce cancer burden through community engagement, research support, and evidence-based initiatives. You will support a portfolio of programs spanning community outreach, education, and clinical, translational, and basic science research, assisting with collaborative projects, cooperative group efforts, and day-to-day program coordination. Working with a high degree of autonomy, you will collaborate with internal stakeholders across medical, research, administrative, and support teams, as well as external partners and community organizations. The role requires strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills to manage multiple priorities, coordinate cross-functional initiatives, and support partnerships across departments such as the Beckman Research Institute, HACE, Community Benefits, Communications and Marketing, and Government Relations. As a successful candidate, you will:
  • Coordinate and manage all COE meetings, including scheduling, agenda development, materials preparation, and communication with faculty, staff, and external partners.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for COE, facilitating communication and engagement with internal stakeholders, community partners, and external visitors.
  • Support program operations by managing calendars, travel, budgets, purchasing, and administrative processes to ensure seamless execution of COE initiatives.
  • Plan and coordinate conferences, trainings, and events, including logistics, speaker arrangements, and budget tracking.
  • Contribute to communications and marketing efforts by supporting website content, blogs, event promotion, and outreach materials across multiple platforms.
  • Assist in developing culturally tailored educational materials, presentations, and curricula to support community engagement and health education goals.
  • Support community outreach, navigation, and education efforts, including promoting screening, prevention, and clinical trial awareness at events and programs.
  • Build and maintain community partnerships and support research-related outreach activities, while representing COE at health fairs, mobile screenings, and community initiatives.
Your qualifications should include:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Social Work, Education, Social Sciences, or related field. Masters preferred. 3 additional years of experience plus the minimum experience requirement may substitute for minimum education.
  • 3 or more years of progressively responsible experience in a healthcare environment, the conduct of health science research or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working with underserved communities in the Greater Los Angeles area.
  • Experience delivering community health education or coordinating health programs with a strong understanding of social determinants of health principles.
  • Experience in community-engaged research, outreach, navigation, and cancer-related program implementation.
  • Develop culturally tailored health education materials, curricula, and resources to address diverse population needs.
  • Apply knowledge of NCI COE priorities, cancer screening guidelines, population health principles, and federal grant processes to support program success.
