In existence since 1973, RFC has established itself to provide comprehensive services that include: trauma focused treatment and therapy, crisis intervention, group support facilitation, parenting and anger management classes, home visits, psycho-educational and skill building workshops, and youth academic support programs. Kids Club is a year-round afterschool program located at Richstone Family Center. The program offers homework assistance, disguised learning opportunities, and enrichment activities for children in grades 1-8 who attend schools in the Hawthorne and Lawndale School Districts. This program is offered at a low cost and operates Monday thru Friday during after school hours and on select Saturdays. Program Leaders have the opportunity to impact the lives of youth, their families, and the community. This position provides an excellent opportunity for those who are looking to gain experience in social services, community outreach, and education. Program Leaders receive on-going training and individual coaching to enhance professional development.
Job Duties:
Responsible for creating techniques to assist children with homework, promote cooperative behavior, providing academic tutoring and enrichment programming for designated groups of up to twenty students; organize and provide recreation activities as well as applying and explaining rules. Implement effective classroom behavior management Ensure that program spaces are clean, organized and safe, and keep inventory of classroom equipment at all times. Work effectively and collaboratively with co-workers, parents, teachers, volunteers and community partners to ensure quality services are being delivered Monitor and enforce program rules to provide a safe, respectful, and positive learning environment at all times Collaborate with Program Coordinators and other staff to design and implement the program model Participate in Richstone/Kids Club special events. Complete daily attendance and other record keeping for Program Coordinators reporting and adhere to important deadlines Attend and participate in staff development meetings and trainings Serve as a role model by exhibiting and maintaining a positive learning environment through demonstrating appropriate speech, a positive attitude and encouragementQualifications:
Must be 18 years of age or older and be legally eligible to work in the U.S. Must have earned a high school diploma or GED; College coursework and/or units earned in Early Childhood Education highly preferred Experience working with children preferred; able to work with diverse youth Ability to develop and implement programs to help improve student's academic and social development required Must be available to work the following days and hours during the school year: Tues, Thurs, Fri from 2:00pm— 6:00pm, Mon 2:30pm—5:30pm, Wed 1:30pm—4:30pm; flexibility required. Summer schedule to be discussed. Flexible schedule including some evening and weekend availability. Qualified applicants must successfully pass Richstone's fingerprint background clearance and PPD risk assessment Must be able to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace Must maintain appropriate boundaries with students, parents, school personnel, and RFC staff at all times Excellent organization, writing and communication skills Act in accordance to Richstone's mission and visionPHYSICAL DEMANDS
