Position Summary:
The Peer Specialist functions as part of the treatment team and is generally the first program site contact for clients. They are actively involved in providing direct or indirect care and supervision of the clients under the discretion of the Program Director or designee.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Peer Support Specialist Training required. Peer Support Specialist Certification highly preferred. Ability to obtain a Peer Support Specialist Certification within 6 months of hire required. At least 1 year working with individuals experiencing mental health illness, substance use, trauma, homelessness and/or justice involvement. Lived experience or caring for someone with mental health, substance use, trauma, homelessness and/or justice involvement. A stable psychiatric condition of a minimum of 12 months and, as applicable, maintenance of continuous sobriety of 24 months or longer. Extensive personal and/or professionalknowledge of challenges of developing and maintaining a psychiatrically, sober lifestyle. Effective verbal and written communication and computer skills. Positive customer service approach. Spanish speaking preferred.
