In this role, the Fellow will support investment research and management across various asset classes, strategic initiatives with key partners (including UC campuses and asset managers), as well as support calendaring and event preparation for the Chief Investment Officer utilizing AI workflows. The fellow will work with the UC Investments team and UCOP business units and is responsible for monitoring and assisting the execution of Artificial Intelligence (AI) initiatives and information security activities to ensure security controls are designed, implemented, and operating to business unit requirements, industry best practices and Federal and State laws and regulations. The Fellow will assist in new AI integration and use cases with a focus on implementing real use case initiatives, governance and data security as it pertains to an investment office setting and current initiatives. The Fellow will collaborate with business unit to maintain and improve existing workflows utilizing AI tools, security capabilities and develop and implement new security technologies utilizing AI tools such as creating a code of ethics chatbot for the team and working with agents. Additionally, this role will work closely with the UCOP Unit Information Security Liaison providing dedicated support to a specific Business Unit, performing risk assessments and general information security functions, as well as being one of the information security contacts for the Business Unit and work on other operational risk and compliance related initiatives. This is part of a multi-year Fellowship program with three entry points, recent undergraduate, graduate or specialized, professional school background (JD, Engineering, Science.) Candidates will be placed and rotated through a variety of projects to learn and develop in different specializations. There is no guaranteed placement at the end of the assignment after 2-3 years, but the candidate will leave with a broad skillset that qualifies them to work in various asset management specializations and project management roles.RESPONSIBILITIES 65
% Strategic initiatives support Assist in research leveraging AI and LLM tools, planning, tracking, and coordination of strategic projects with key stakeholders, including UC campuses, asset managers, and internal teams Projects may include investment opportunities, thought leadership initiatives, and/or student engagement efforts) Conduct background research and prepare briefing materials to inform strategic decision-making Prepare presentation materials, summaries, and talking points for leadership meetings and events 35% Investment Research and Diligence Assist with investment research and analysis across asset class teams, as needed incorporating AI for Investment Office Use cases Support manager research and due diligence efforts, including data gathering and synthesis of findings Help monitor portfolio performance and prepare summary reports for internal use Compile and maintain investment-related data, analyses, and documentationQUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications Strong analytical and quantitative skills including AI, with the ability to synthesize data and communicate key insights clearly Demonstrated interest in institutional investing, asset management, or public/endowment investment management Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; ability to prepare well-organized analyses and presentation materials Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment Strong organizational skills and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion Ability to represent an organization with professionalism and integrity, helping build relationships with key stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications Prior professional experience (including internships) in consulting, finance, corporate development, and/or real estate with experiencer with AI and AI use cases preferred Prior experience with the evaluation of investment opportunities and/or project planning. Basic financial modeling skills and/or fluency in understanding financial statements and models. Basic knowledge of the finance and investment industry.EDUCATION

$82,000 - $95,000 The University of California, Office of the President, is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range reflects a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
