Sister League of San Diego provides supportive housing for women affected by mental illness, homelessness, trauma, and domestic abuse with services designed to encourage confidence, self-esteem, and independence. As a Program Coordinator, you will be at the forefront of fostering positive change by coordinating volunteer efforts and creating the activities, schedules, and safety plans at both residences. Your energy, leadership, and organizational skills will drive our mission forward and inspire community participation. The Program Coordinator will work out of both houses spending at least two days at each house each week with admin days as needed.
The duties are as follows:
Responsibilities Oversee in-house resident activities and programming including completing all monthly: activity, chore, volunteer, and dinner schedules. Keep Announcement Boards in both houses up to date. Develop monthly activities, activity guide, sign-up sheets, and volunteer activity schedules that promote resident enrichment and engagement Develop a monthly staff schedule that accounts for staff case loads and availability Oversee volunteer base including screening, managing, scheduling, and maintaining relationships with all SLSD volunteers Supervise, screen, and onboard all program interns and delegate tasks pertaining to social media, admin work, and other means of program improvement. Complete weekly pickups at designated appointment time for San Diego Food Bank as well as supplemental grocery runs as needed. Develop the monthly meal menu and shopping/grocery list based on the menu and food inventory. Work with residents to provide meals that are appealing to them as well while keeping in mind SLSD costs and food appropriateness/accessibility. Monitor program inventory, including but not limited to: paper products, cleaning supplies, office supplies, emergency and first aid, and household items. Plan inventory orders for each month and annual first aid inventory checks. Monitors Repair Log daily. Make appointments and arrange to be there or have staff available for follow-through with repairs, and/or obtaining bids for work at both homes. Assist Director of Operations in the assessment/intake process for potential residents including monitoring incoming referral forms, contacting potential residents, and conducting an assessment. Develop memos for upcoming events or relevant information for residents and distribute accordingly. Plan, document and execute two emergency planning drills a year: one announced and one unannounced annual fire drill and emergency evacuation with residents and staffs of both houses. The announced drill should be first notating any change of residents before executing the unannounced drill. Inspect fire extinguishers monthly in both houses. Establish and maintain relationships with mental health resources and other community organizations to foster community relationships. Provide outreach in the community to bring in new referrals. Manage in-kind donation thank you letter tracker. Designate interns or volunteers to assist in sending out letters. Qualifications The Program Coordinator would have two years of working with individuals that are living with mental illness as well as two years overseeing projects and/or programs. A Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Sociology or related field is preferred. Ability to read and interpret documents and procedure manuals. Must be able to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to cultivate and maintain cohesive working relationships with coworkers. Works well in group problem solving situations. Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions. Must be able to operate a computer, related equipment, and software. Ability to manage time and tasks to meet strict deadlines while maintaining quality of work. Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite of products (Outlook, Word, Excel) While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations, and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds.
