Bilingual Nutrition Programs Coordinator Reports to:Senior Manager of Community Services Job Classification:
Full-time, Non-exempt Job Overview The Bilingual Nutrition Programs Coordinator supports the operations, logistics, and coordination of SLO Food Bank's community services programs. This position works with the Community Services Team to help ensure that the SLO Food Bank and its partners meet the needs of food-insecure families and individuals in SLO County. The coordinator works most closely with the SLO Food Bank's child and senior nutrition programs, including Children's and Senior's Farmers' Markets, and the Summer Breakfast Bag and Senior Home Delivery programs. A successful Bilingual Nutrition Programs Coordinator is an outgoing, people-oriented individual who is passionate about serving neighbors in need. Principle Duties & Responsibilities Program Support Coordinates with program managers to ensure the successful and sustainable execution of the SLO Food Bank's Community Services programs Serves as the primary liaison with site staff and volunteers, overseeing logistics and coordination for monthly program events. Provides direct customer service, support, and information to program participants. Facilitates training opportunities with volunteers and staff on program protocols, compliance, and customer service. Coordinates across departments to ensure efficient use of resources. Adheres to program requirements and best practices. Coordinates with programs and warehouse staff to organize and streamline internal systems of communication and logistics. Assists in developing or expanding new programs and/or sites in response to community need. Assists with monitoring and evaluation activities, including site reviews and surveys, to ensure compliance with program guidelines and assess program impact. Ensures that the Food Bank's policies and procedures are met. Provides backup support during staff absences or peak workload demands Coordinates special projects and temporary efforts that support the mission of the SLO Food Bank and benefit the community. Provides assistance as needed at other sites in the field, including at food distributions, community events, gleans, and at agency partner pantry and meal sites. Administrative Support Handles administrative tasks and communication associated with tracking data for grants, surveys, and program evaluation. Collects, organizes, and files completed paperwork from program sites Attends meetings with community groups aligned with the SLO Food Bank's mission to promote resources, share information, and foster collaborations that benefit SLO Food Bank clients. Assists with the preparation of reports, outreach materials, program materials, and presentations. Qualifications Passion for the SLO Food Bank mission. Strong desire to compassionately serve struggling members of our community. Bilingual, Spanish conversational fluency and writing skills required. Demonstrated proficiency in teamwork and collaboration. Background in program coordination and project management. Experience working with volunteers of all ages from diverse socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds. Ability to manage multiple projects with strong attention to detail; ability to handle interruptions, maintain focus on tasks and produce accurate work. Ability to work both in a team setting and to work independently, take initiative, set priorities and to solve problems independently. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Great computer skills, with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience in Canva and WordPress is also valuable. Knowledge of food safety issues, with ability to receive ServSafe certification.Strong cultural competence:
ability to build positive relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders including donors, volunteers for faith-based and grassroots organizations, as well as residents seeking emergency food assistance Requirements Must be willing to travel throughout San Luis Obispo County. Must be 18 years of age or older. Must possess a valid Driver's License, clean driving record, and proof of insurance. Reliable transportation to work. Bachelor's degree or equivalent in experience. Bilingual, Spanish conversational fluency and writing skills required. Customer service experience. Salary Range & Benefits Starting wage of $21.00-24.00 per hour depending on qualifications. 10 paid holidays per year. 12 paid vacation days per year (vacation accrual escalates based on years of service as detailed in the Employee Handbook). 80 hours of paid sick leave per year. Eligible for employer-subsidized healthcare benefits. Eligible for participation in optional 401k plan, with employer matching 50% of employee's annual contribution up to a total organizational match of 3% of compensation. Work Conditions / Physical Demands The position is based out of the SLO Food Bank's offices at 1180 Kendall Road, San Luis Obispo, CA, and works alongside a dedicated group of approximately 37 staff and 1,500 volunteers. The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position will require the ability to: see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer) regularly lift, carry, and load up to 50 pounds bend, stoop, climb, and crouch repeatedly throughout the day stand, walk, and kneel for extended periods of time throughout the workday spend extended periods of time operating a computer Variable work environment Work is conducted both indoors and outdoors with varying environmental conditions. Indoor facilities kept at cold temperature, so warm clothing is required. Noise level varies from quiet office environment to very noisy warehouse. Exhaust and dust may be present in the warehouse receiving area.
