I/II GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Family Support Services Family Relationships Facilitator I/II will collaborate with parents, school administrators, and public and private entities to support couples and families in building skills to lead more fulfilling lives and strengthen parenting practices. The facilitator will work with participants to strengthen fathering skills, relationship skills, understanding of developmental milestones, and guide individuals and families in overcoming obstacles to self-sufficiency. Utilizing the Protective Factors Framework, the Family Relationships Facilitator I/II will provide and/or link couples and families to comprehensive services in support of a child's lifelong learning, health, and behavior. Through screening and assessment, parent and relationship education, home visitation, case management, and/or service linkage, the Family Relationships Facilitator I/II will identify risks, promote strengths, and equip parents with the skills and knowledge needed to provide nurturing environments and overcome sources of stress. This position may require working some evenings and/or weekends. Working with those impacted by trauma can be fulfilling and meaningful, yet simultaneously challenging, requiring attention to one's self-care. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Facilitate classes, workshops, and home visitation focusing on healthy relationships and parenting skills utilizing approved curriculum. Conduct outreach, recruitment, and engagement for parents, couples, fathers and male parental figures to participate in services. Utilize assessment skills and screening tools to triage families and determine appropriate services (case management, information and referral, parent education, economic stability services). Work in collaboration with colleagues to provide a continuum of care. Coordinate classes with co-facilitator and community partners in an effort to best accommodate participants' needs. Participate in activities to evaluate the program's effectiveness. Complete pre-program evaluation to ensure the curriculum is tailored to the needs and identified risks of participants. Support participants in developing positive parenting skills through the use of effective communication and understanding of developmental milestones. Demonstrate knowledge of local resources and provide information and referral when warranted. Ensure client records and documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and kept confidential. Utilize databases to maintain accurate and timely records of program contacts, activities, and outcomes. Attend supervision meetings to report on cases, program requirements, and service delivery needs. Ensure all equipment is secured and maintained in good working condition. Participate in all required agency and/or contract mandated trainings. Performs other duties as assigned EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS AND STANDARDS
Bachelor's required in sociology, social work, child development, or related field; Master's degree preferred. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred. Comfortable facilitating community workshops and classes with participants of all ages and backgrounds. Demonstrate knowledge of the following topics: parent education, developmental milestones, effective communication, overcoming obstacles to self-sufficiency, conflict management, and stress management. Familiarity with community resources and knowledge of family stability resources. Computer and Internet literacy and excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Proficient in Microsoft Office; can adapt to using various types of software. Valid automobile insurance and a valid California Driver License are required. Reliable transportation is necessary to travel throughout Santa Barbara County. Staff who have been employed in this position for at least three years may be eligible to move to the II level. SALARY RANGE
$29/hr. + Dependent upon experience/qualifications CLASSIFICATION
