Job Overview AAAWLC is a healing-centered, community-driven nonprofit dedicated to transforming systems of health, education, social justice, and healing in San Joaquin County. Our mission is to cultivate change that moves families from surviving to thriving, prioritizing racial equity, lived experience, and trauma-informed care. The position oversees and supports multiple organizing and advocacy initiatives, including the B.L.O.W. Project (Believe, Learn, Overcome, Win), a culturally responsive campaign supporting Black/African American residents impacted by substance use; Black Youth Protecting Black Peace (BYPBP), a youth-led organizing initiative that supports Black youth leadership, advocates for policies that promote safety and opportunity, and advances the development of youth-centered spaces and resources; and voter education, civic engagement, and power-building efforts in partnership with the California Black Power Network. Organizing at AAAWLC is about building relationships, developing leaders, and mobilizing collective action so directly impacted communities can exercise power and create lasting change. The Associate Program Manager is expected to spend significant time building relationships, developing grassroots leaders, and coordinating collective action with directly impacted community members. Support AAAWLC's evolving priorities and perform additional tasks as needed. Experience Bachelor's degree in a related field (preferred), or an equivalent combination of community organizing, youth leadership, and civic engagement experience. 2+ years' experience in community organizing, program management, advocacy, or behavioral health with a focus on racial equity and substance use. Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and supervise youth fellows, community leaders, and organizing teams. Expertise engaging Black/African American communities and understanding social justice, behavioral health, and trauma-informed approaches. Skilled communicator with proven relationship-building, facilitation, and project management strengths. Strong knowledge of harm reduction, local resource networks, and creative campaign development. Effective in multi-stakeholder environments; adept at data tracking, reporting, and adaptable problem solving. Lived experience with health disparities, recovery, or reentry welcomed and valued.
