This role is responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of educational programs, from curriculum design and instructional support to regulatory compliance and student transitions. The role directs the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Vocational Nursing curriculum and ensures compliance with BVNPT, WASC, and district regulations while providing instructional leadership to faculty and comprehensive support to students. The Coordinator serves as the primary liaison between the institution and regulatory bodies to maintain programmatic excellence and high student achievement. Program Compliance & Administration
  • Direct vocational nursing curriculum development and evaluation to ensure full BVNPT and WASC compliance.
  • Serve as primary liaison to the BVNPT, managing all regulatory reporting, applications, and correspondence.
  • Oversee program governance, including Program Advisory Committee (PAC) leadership and faculty meeting facilitation.
  • Maintain confidential student records and program data to satisfy funding, licensure, and accountability requirements.
  • Manage resource procurement, including curriculum materials, supplies, and textbooks. Faculty Leadership & Development
  • Lead faculty lifecycle processes, including recruitment, orientation, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Mentor nursing staff through clinical/classroom observations, providing feedback on instructional methodology and classroom management.
  • Monitor instructional accountability, ensuring teacher compliance with grading, attendance, and LMS usage.
  • Coordinate daily operations, such as master scheduling and substitute teacher coverage. Student Support & Clinical Oversight
  • Manage student success initiatives, from initial selection and orientation through graduation and job placement.
  • Provide academic and behavioral coaching, facilitating student discipline and conflict resolution in coordination with administration.
  • Direct clinical site operations, ensuring facility compliance and providing on-site oversight.
  • Coordinate standardized testing and proctoring for state/federal certifications and proficiency growth. Desired Qualifications
  • Recent experience leading or supporting health-related program certification or accreditation processes (Board of Registered Nurses, Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians,
  • Council on Occupational Education, California Department of Public Health)
  • Experience in planning and presenting professional development
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Ability to outreach and be a liaison with community organizations to create partnerships that yield opportunities for clinical experiences and jobs for students
  • Experience working effectively with people from different cultures in a collaborative environment and demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of diverse student populations. Minimum Qualifications
  • Must have a minimum of three years' experience as a registered nurse; one year shall be in teaching or clinical supervision, or a combination thereof, in a state approved registered nursing or vocational or practical nursing, or psychiatric technician school within the last five years; or a minimum of three years' experience in nursing administration or nursing education within the last five years.
  • Must have completed a course or courses offered by an approved school with instruction in administration, teaching, and curriculum development.
  • Eligible for Board of Vocational Nursing & Psychiatric Technicians approval (includes three years minimum recent work experience within the last five years)
  • Possess an American Heart Association CPR Card Physical Abilities
  • Requires the ability to perform indoors in an office and/or classroom/laboratory environment engaged in work of primarily a sedentary to a moderately active nature.
  • Requires near visual acuity to read and write printed materials and computer screens.
  • Requires auditory ability to carry on conversations in person and over the phone.
  • Requires ambulatory ability to move about office, classroom/laboratory, and school grounds, to tutor, assist with presentations, and reach work materials.
  • Requires sufficient manual and finger dexterity to demonstrate teaching aids, to point out important words/figures to students, and to operate personal computers.
  • Requires the ability to lift, carry, push, and move supplies, fixtures, wheelchairs, etc., of light-to medium weight (under 40 pounds).

Work Year, Hours & Salary The administration sets the work schedule based on the needs of the class and department. This position requires flexible scheduling to include one or more nights per week and some weekend days for class coverage. Working Conditions Work is performed in office, classroom, and clinical environments that can be noisy and subject to constant interruption. Education, Licenses & Certificates In addition to the Minimum Qualifications listed above:
  • Must possess a Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Must hold a current California active license as a Registered Nurse
  • Must hold or be qualified to obtain a California Designated Subjects Credential with subject authorization in Nursing Services or Health Science and Medical Technology
  • Possess a valid California driver's license and a reliable means of transportation to travel to multiple locations.
  • Requires fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation.
